Good old Lackland AFB. The first 2 months of my enlisted career spent at the 322nd.
Remember the first night like it was yesterday, even though almost 30 years ago. Non-stop yelling, and for some reason one of the first things they did was issue us a winter field jacketā¦absolutely critical attire for July in Texas. I just grabbed the first one I saw and told the TI it fit despite not even trying it on. I weighed about a buck 40 at the time, and you could have fit 3 of me in this thing when I actually put it on. I sure as hell wasnāt going to tell him I screwed up so just hung it up in my locker and forgot about it,
Fast forward to late November when I arrive in Colorado for my first assignment and itās freezing cold. I show up at my unit wearing this tent, and first thing I get askedā¦āwhy the hell did they issue you your Dadās jacket?ā
First trip after work that day was clothing sales to buy one that fit.
Calling dune a rip off of Star Wars is so offensive to me. If dune was a rip off of Star Wars it probably wouldnāt suck so much worse than Star Wars, which is itself so sucky.
How has @jazznutUVA not raised this yet? Massive upset from a bunch of part-time USA players. I understand nothing about cricket, but will nevertheless enjoy it:
Weāve never won an ODI vs. a Full Member country (one authorized for a Test match)⦠and we are not able to play Test Cricket.
Iām also not saying T20 Cricket is not entertaining. It is actually a whole lot of fun to watch⦠but I would say I like watching Arena Football too⦠however that really isnāt real American Football either.
If Pakistan beat us in an Arena Football game⦠it would be a big deal and a massive upset, but no one would take it very seriously in the US. There wouldnāt be this upheaval of the American football universe if it happened.
āTest Level T20ā is an oxymoron. Test Level is 5-Day matches. Ask your Welsh buddy. Yes⦠it is the T20 āWorld Cupā⦠but still a completely different game. T20 games were developed to last 2 - 3 hours.
@BDragon So let me ask you this⦠how significant would a US victory in Rugby 7s World Cup be in comparison to a full 15 v 15 win against one of the top 5 or 6 Rugby countries in the Rugby World Cup?
Thought about that and Iād say 7s world cup a deal but not a massive one but thats on the technicality that the 7s world cup isnt a big deal.
Win the 7s series (Which they did in 19) big deal. Win a gold in Paris in the Olympics massive deal.
At this point qualifying for the 15s RWC would be a big deal. But yes knocking off NZ, Eng, SA or Arg in any 15s test would be massive
. But again part of that is due to rarity. The 7s teams play wach other multiple times a year while the 15s team see one another once or twice a decade. The US only plays the top 5 in the world if they are coming to the US for a payday or we ger matched up in a RWC.
You have to remember World Rugby desperately wants thr USA to be a player in rugby no matter the code. Not an accident the US got Bids for the 27 mens ans 29 Womens REC despite the men not even making the 2023 RWC.
I actually like netball. The same welsh friend. His GF was a hugh level player and coaches a lower div club. Ive been down that rabbit hole watching semi pro games from the UK.
Netball also a sport the UK started and the aussies and kiwis took over
