Was trying to not engage in the Jack Salt bait on the intel thread, but @kjwilliams612 , this post is violence:
If we want an apples to apples comparison of āwhoās good at offense when surrounded by NBA playersā then letās compare Salt in 18-19 to RD on the Suns.
Tbh, Iām just relieved that Ty and Dre are still able to thrive without all those screens.
(And look, I like Jack. But letās not get this twistedā¦)
I demand you restart the podcast and issue a public apology.
Our offense was a lot better in 2019 with Mamadi at the 5 than Jack. Hell the defense may have been better too. Not trying to take away from Jack, he was a really valuable player, especially for certain matchups. We donāt beat Purdue without him. But letās not sell Mamadi short.
lol I may have been a bit wild here but I still think RD at a 4 in mover blocker was a bad fit.
Also I might be in the minority but I donāt think RDās rookie year was anything special. Decent stats on a bad team and fell out of the rotation a few times. Still think heās an upcoming talent but he did make me appreciate Salt more.
He was struggling and it was clear in hindsight that the last few years he was more going through the motions and pouting than he was doing what he did from 2014-2019. Heās also a stoic guy with a few passive aggressive tendencies and I think it just took him time to realize it was never going to work. A shame ā was really hoping heād be our coach until he was in his 70āa and deliver multiple FFs and maybe even another title, but the game changed and he couldnāt. Do think he could have handled it all better than he did though.
Imagine having to ride home with a Carolina fan after the Woldetensae game ⦠very quiet rideā¦. I was so pumped and had to hold it in til I got home where I watched the replay 29 times.
