NBA Early Draft Entry / G-League Discussion (Formerly 2022 Recruiting Offers)

Interesting Justin Taylor article in The Athletic today on Justin Taylor. Apparently VT and others are suggesting he can play thirty minutes as a freshman

I watched ND-VT over the weekend. I don’t know current roster construction but from what I saw, it seems like he would be a good fit and could have an immediate impact in Mike Young’s system.

Think it would be a different role then what UVA would put him in. He might have a bigger immediate impact for the Hokies but think UVA gives better pro prospects.

It can’t hurt that he’s working with Alitzer (spelling?) and is watching tape of Kyle Guy

I hope a kid from stab understands he isn’t allowed to go to VT if he has a uva offer. It simply isn’t allowed.

Would be shocked if he went to Tech

I’m not worried about a kid who is a UVA fan and has offers from UVA, Indiana, and Syracuse going to Tech.

Those were very interesting, specifically Justin’s

I actually thought McKneely’s was more interesting.

Does it matter which head coaches you hear from? Yes 100% (ding ding).

Advice on how to recruit during dead period? Taking clips from their games, and showing how I would look in that kind of offense (ding ding).

And I liked his answer for who helps him with process. The long time high school coach who we know appreciates UVA’s approach, and his young trainer who he’s probably just trying to help get his name out. No mention of the Wildcats Select higher ups that presumably are responsible for the Oscar fiasco.

Those were very interesting points too. I thought Justin’s answer on not having a dream school was interesting, but I couldn’t tell if he was being truthful or trying to dispel the notion that it’s a one team race

I liked McKneely’s answer about helping get other players too. Not sure many of these kids realize it at this point but later it’s made very clear to them the best way to do that is by committing early and freeing up the coaches.

Virginia: “They have been recruiting me since my freshman year and it’s the only school I’ve taken a visit to right before COVID happened. I’ve built a great relationship with the entire coaching staff and they like my ability to score as a point guard and make plays for others.”

I presume he doesn’t have an offer even though the article implies it?

No Dinkins hasn’t been offered. Just McKneely and Taylor.

Kyle mentions us in schools still looking for an offer from. Mentions he can guard the 1-5. Not sure about that but would be interesting to seem him at the 4 and use him the same way Notre Dame uses Laszewski as a stretch 4. Does have some mobility to him

So one guy mentions how it stands out to him when the head coach calls or texts him.

Serious question: do head coaches have a recruiting “burner” they use just to contact recruits? Is it really the head coach texting when it’s a text?

Tony probably doesn’t but i 100% guarantee coach K can’t figure out how to use his VCR let alone text somebody.

I don’t know about that but there’s one ACC head coach that carries 3 phones. Some people noticed him shuffling between at a high school game.

Is it Keatts? Personal, burner, adidas?
