Good point, it would help not playing on a Monday going head up against MNF. But a midweek game could easily own the landscape. What else is ESPN showing? MACtion?
I think Election Day is mucking things up a bit this year. I believe teams are supposed to make that an off day, which was a reform after 2020, but that means coaches donât want to schedule a real tough game this week. Speculating a lot, obviously.
I mostly agree that college hoops is never gonna hit big this time of year, but that doesnât mean they shouldnât do something to try to break through the noise. But the big problem is there is no they just 60 or so high major schools doing what suits them best: getting a home game against a cupcake to justify a higher price on the season ticket.
Itâs just a weird year because of election day. Normally it would start tomorrow with the Championâs Classic.
As always, @jphat007 and I agree. ![]()
Ahh Election Day⌠youâd think the guy who works in elections would have made that connection⌠That makes total sense.
Boo this! Donât put that mojo out there.

The major issue w/r/t our game tonight is the stupid ACCN - RSN interplay, which leads to regional blackouts. Iâm particularly pissed b/c Iâm fairly certain NYC is blacked out, because YES is playing it. But itâs delayed until 1 am, so basically I have no way to watch live, short of the google doc method.
However, fwiw, assuming youâre normally a NESN market, you should be able to watch online on ACCNX / WatchESPN as you normally would. It doesnât seem to be on NESN at all, so you donât have to worry about the blackout. (I think this is right - but donât quote me).
Thing is itâs an election year 50% of the years. They should just make whatever adjustments to the calendar they need to start after election day.
Yeah, probably better to move it to a Wednesday, but I think there are problems with NBA Wednesday night, so maybe the Thursday?
The other issue w/r/t âno games on election dayâ, if the NBA AND college are both doing it is that naturally the Mondays and Wednesdays get more crowded (like tonight) and then college gets fewer good time slots, networks, etc. and gets bumped to 1 am in more markets, or not even shown in others (like NESN).
Thereâs got to be a way to fit both. Iâm fine with not wanting to play on election day. Sure. But the NBA and college could split who plays when, NBA has 15 games tonight, College could do a mega tipoff classic on Weds with a cple marquee games on the big networks and then some smaller ones filling out the schedule and then build thurs and Fri
Time for some predictions. As of Noon, UVA is a -24, with an O/U at 126.5. Vegas is high on the Cavs, thinking itâll be around 75 - 51, UVA. I think UVA wins, but doesnât cover.
70 - 56 UVA
78-50 is my prediction
McKneely good for 30 ![]()
All I know is that NC Central is going to hit their first 3. Teams must have been 80+% last year. Especially bad teams.
I just think these early season cupcake games are stay-aways. We could be up 30 late, and Tony goes all green team and we donât cover. Or we could be in a 15 point game late, and we go with the Dunn/Bond death lineup and roll them from there. Too hard to predict.
Ryan Dunn points over under?
7 points 4 boards 2 blocks 3 fouls 1 redshirt post game
Agree, thereâs a few teams Iâd dabble on these early season games with, but Hoos arenât want of them. CTB too nice and willing to take the foot off the peddle, combined with a style of play that does not lend itself to crushing blowouts⌠That said do I smell an under!!!
Aw man weâre doomedâŚ
Fresh ainât supposed to make predictions
