Scheduled the day off a while back, now not even sure I want it. And to boot itâs too rainy to go enjoy a spring day outside here.
Really?! I love March regardless of what Virginia is doing. (Although after UMBC was tough)
Headed to Midlands in Petworth if any DC folks wanna grab a beer. Where I watched us beat Gardner Webb. Pure agony the first half.
Itâll draw me back eventually
Iâm sure Iâll put it on, got some home improvement projects to work on, will make nice background.
When we lost to UMBC, I didnât watch another tournament game that year until the championship.
That happened to me last year. Took Thurs and Friday off. Kihei blows the game on Thurs I actually went back to work on Friday cause I was so distraught. Luckily got to hang with @Marktykobe on Saturday and that pulled me back in.
Depending on how and when Virginia goes out my tournament experience drastically changes. Like @GulfCoastHoo after UMBC I promised myself I would not watch college basketball until the Hoos were back on the court and I did not watch a single game until the 18/19 opener.
Iâm actually kinda excited about this yearâs March Madness. With Virginia out of the way, Iâve had 2 days to put the year behind me and move on.
Refereeing Goochland vs James Monroe tonight⌠wouldve missed us lose to Texas if we had won TuesdayâŚprobably wouldve been for the best. Haha!
⌠and once UVa is out⌠March Madness doesnt exist in my life anymore⌠so i do other things.
Deep down I knew our team wouldnât do any damage so their early exit wonât impact my enjoyment of the tourney this year. Honestly, feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders with the season ending and no longer having to sweat out every game and the worry we would embarrass ourselves. Can just focus on enjoying the offseason and the tournament, so long as Duke doesnât win it all.
That said, didnât watch a lick of the tourney after UMBC and it took me a few days to recover after the Kihei pass last year.
Thatâs honestly how I feel. I knew this yearâs team wasnât going anywhere and realistically I was done with this iteration of the team after the NC State game. Watching the tournament with a fresh set of eyes and just enjoying basketball will be nice
I had scheduled today a half day but like @StLouHoo Iâm not even sure I want to leave work. There are multiple wildfires really tearing up the local area⌠I donât usually subscribe to the panic of a season ending loss (all but 3 teams end with an L) but this time the (local) world is actually on fire.
2016 was much worse. I knew we were cooked once Dre was injured.
I am struggling with how we lost, and the entire nation mocking us for it, than the fact that we lost.
But the tourney is the best sporting event, and there are always brackets to be busted, so I will watch and hopefully enjoy it.
If a 1 seed won it all, which one would you prefer it be?
- Purdue
- Houston
- UNC
- UConn
If a 2 seed won it all, which one would you prefer it be?
- Iowa State
- Marquette
- Tennessee
- Arizona
Yeah, 2016 was a different kind of gut punch. Halfway through the 2nd half of the Syracuse game, I pulled out my laptop to start looking at Final 4 flights, hotel & tickets.
Canât vote in the first one. Purdue needs to make a final 4, raise a banner, have a parade, and just let their fans be happy. No need to play in it.
Purdue to make the @haney family happy and Arizona because it might mean a Caleb Love revenge game against UNC, which would be juicy.
Thereâs now a trailer for Kyleâs documentary. From a Virginia perspective, it is gonna have interviews from Dre and Sanchez.
Looks good.
@haney you got the poll results for that elite 8 prediction at the beginning of the season?
I had Florida as my âOtherâ and was looking forward to pointing to my âgenius-nessâ all season (which looked a lot better until Micah went down).
Edit: found it Elite 8 poll - 23-24 preseason
Guessing most of us will be wrong on the Kansas pick.
I picked Colorado St. as an âotherâ pick for one of them.
Boy did that monkey paw curl.
