I know they’ve looked shaky, but I’m shocked Auburn is so low, was a clear -#1 for most of the season and I think Michigan/ Ole Miss or MSU is a pretty favorable path

I understand that point of view. I think it’s the point of view of most fans of blue blood programs.
To win the championship, it takes 6 wins. You only have to win half that to make it to the Elite 8. And getting to the Elite 8 is the easiest part. (not to suggest that it is easy) The next 3 games get tougher. That’s why Nattys are so special and Elite Eights are meh to blue blood programs.
