Miami with some YOLO shot selection instead of killing clock.
Toombs is a weird player - heâs not quite a center defensively but he doesnât shoot 3s, heâs only had 2 dunks this season as a 6â10â guy whoâs taken 50+ shots at the rim, doesnât draw FTs. But heâs really good at that little push shot in lane right below the FT line that is technically a mid-range shot in the classifiers.
It wonât hold, but as of right now, this is the 3rd season Andy Enfield has had a team ranked exactly #46 in T-Rank:
If you ever want to remind yourself which year Evan Mobley was in college, just consult the link above and find the year thatâs outside the Enfield Zone.
Thank god Miami U won. The worst people on twitter would be so annoying if they got blown out.
That being said, Ament is going to drop 35 in the paint on Friday
Andy Enfield turned 2 March wins by Dunk City into 11 years at USC plus 2 more and counting at SMU.
The ACCâs not looking so hot right nowâŚ.
Eh Iâll wait until the ACC teams not in the first 4 play to make a determination. Iâll preemptively say I donât care about UNCâs result with Wilson out too.
Tennessee is going to feast against the Miami OH team. Theyâll have to hit a million 3âs to stay in it
Enfield coached a horrific game last night. No idea what he was trying to do on either side of the ball. Whatever. Unfortunately Tennessee has gotten the worst 11.
I said âwhat the hell is Enfield doing??â out loud about 10 times last night and only half of them were about his weird haircut
Julius Caesar ass cut smh
Beware the Threes of March
Plus a Mobley brother along the way helped
Not exactly encouraged by the ACCâs performance so far. Gonna be looking at 5 bids again if UNC, Louisville, Clemson, and Miami lose early too
I only watched on and off, but from the parts I saw, Miami was taking good, clean, largely uncontested threes⌠just from 4 feet behind the line. For some reason SMU let them.
Wake and Cal both won in the NIT, at least. Yeah big whoop no one cares. But they did avoid additional black eyes for the ACC.
Seemed a number of Miamiâs threes came on offensive rebounds. The maxim âlong shots, long reboundsâ seemed to apply. Shooting quickly after getting the O rebound meant SMU wasnât ready to defend.
It seemed like every loose ball found a miami shooterâs hands for a while there
Biggest takeaway from the SMU-Miami game is the committee should get out of the business of considering injuries. The committee head explicitly said that Edwardsâ return is why SMU got in the tourney⌠and then Edwards didnât play⌠woof.
(And this is on top of the problem of accurately predicting the past and future game impacts of player availability, which is impossible.)
Getting in or not should be totally resume based. Whatever a team did during the season earned them a spot or not. No need to try to project the future. If a team wins its conference championship, but loses its best players during or after the championship game, it doesnât lose its spot. The same should apply to at large teams.
Regarding seeding though, I donât know. You want to have the best tournament and be fair to all the teams. But no one provides full transparency about injuries. To win the tournament you have to beat all comers. I figure that if you lost to an underseeded team in the 2nd round because they have a key player back healthy, you wouldâve lost to them in a later round if they were seeded higher. Like, the Celtics just got Tatum back and theyâll hit the playoffs seeded whatever they earned through their season results, mostly without Tatum. No oneâs asking if thatâs fair to their opponent.
