Jerrod Calhoun. Jeff Capel. Fred Hoiberg. Maybe Porter Moser and DeVries. Dont rule out the Carlisle/AHC Cory Alexander route?

AHC?

Sometimes I don’t know if I should question @Hooandtrue or just let it flow.

Associate head coach

I don’t wanna circle back to this fully as it’s already been talked about at length, but I think this is where the ā€˜culture’ argument applies for us. There’s certain guys that other programs are fine going with that we aren’t, even if Jans has atoned for his past behaviors and is a perfectly nice guy now I don’t think we would ever even think twice about reaching out to him to be our head coach because of his baggage.

I think there is a certain type of coach that our donor base generally wants, it’s not a 1:1 fit all the time but there’s definitely a model.

Time to change the avi and curse the next guy

Might be the wrong thread for it but with the roster currently assembled, would CTB even have won (at a NCAA right side of the bubble amount) with the schedule we have and the lack of talent?

The reason I ask is feels like the next coach needs to be someone that can overhaul a roster and fast. Not a ā€œI’ll bring 2-3 of my guys with meā€ but a completely new team over night. If CTB couldn’t win with this I don’t know who else could so really hoping whoever is next can make some drastic personnel, operational, and tactical changes.

We almost certainly are going to have a couple of down years with the new coach first unless we just hit the lottery with mid tier portal talent

For better or worse I think Tony would have willed this roster + Jalen Warley to a 20 win season via the black magic he summons in ACC play. Whether or not that would’ve put us on the right side of the bubble comes down to who we hypothetically beat.

Here’s one for you. Which school potentially hires Ron Sanchez as an assistant next year in part to nab a current UVA player or two?

Do you think it’s more likely Ron lands an assistant job or a mid major takes another chance on him for the head job?

Idk why but I feel like Wisconsin-Green Bay makes sense just because of his style of play along with being so connected to the Bennett’s. Plus Gottlieb has to be a dead man walking, right?

I know the name has been thrown out at least a few times, but if we are looking at high major coaches who have shown the ability to have success and would be hard to get away from their current job because they haven’t been there very long, what about Kyle Smith? Elevated every program he’s been at and we can pitch the Bennett transition from the west coast to Virginia.

carla already crossed him off the list

I don’t think anybody will be hot after Sanchez as a HC but he’ll have lots of options as an assistant. All our assistants would. The perfect job for him would be at Cal or Stanford…where they need to recruit the west coast and play the ACC teams he’s familiar with.

Thsts the difference between a HOF coach and a coach.

When does Guy finish his degree. Imagine that would play a role in where he lands next year.

You gotta think if KG stays in coaching he stays at Virginia. Could see him giving the League one more shot though.
