Wake should be a better job than it is. They made terrible hires which lowered their expectations. Forbes isnāt that level of a hire, but why the hell didnāt they hire Pat Kelsey or Wes Miller? Both would have said yes.

Agree with you think. Despite Forbes short comings, I think the Wake job has potential especially with the apparent financial and school backing.
Miller probably should have been the move. His dad is a Wake Trustee, and the basketball complex is named after him (the Miller Center).

This was talked about on the discord about a soft landing spot for Miller (and Cincinatti getting out of his buyout to go get Calhoun)
I think hiring Miller wouldāve been a land mine. If he doesnāt succeed, how do you fire him without losing your biggest donor? And if he does succeed, how do you keep him away from UNC?

Yeah Kelsey was in the mix at Wake but the AD (John Currie) went with Forbes cause of prior relationship from when they both were at Tennessee. Mistake IMO as never felt he fit there and Kelsey obviously from being on Skip Prosserās staff at Wake fit.

They already didnāt hire him when they hired Forbes, so unless the dadās demanding it, Iād avoid it unless heās clearly the best candidate.
Itās also possible that Miller doesnāt want that job. May not want to basically answer to his dad or be viewed as a nepo hire or decides itās just too hard to win at Wake.
Letās throw everything and the kitchen sink at Shaka. If we want to be a premier program, then we need to act like it. Get it done Carla!!!

Forbes has won a lot at Wakeā¦ a lot more than previous regimesā¦
And heās winning again this year ā¦ could have easily had 2 madness appearances - but stinky Acc being ranked 6th or 7th as a conference has killed them.

Odom and VCU with another win, they come back to beat the Bonnies and outscore them 50-28 in the 2nd half. Now 16-4 and 6-1 in the A10.
Right now Bracket Matrix has VCU as a 12 seed in the NCAAT.

Also some googling says that Aldrich is only making 150k at Longwood U. With his recent extension, it is probably more. But even then, I assume J Willy and Ron were making double or triple what he is making now as associate head coaches? If we get Odom and he wants Aldrich on staff, we should be able to throw plenty of cash his way. Although he might not need it after his law firm partner career.

I think we could make a pretty compelling offer to him, but he could be Blacksburg bound if Young retires. Would be hard to pass that up.

Yeah I could see the dominoes giving him a good HC opportunity. Could also imagine him getting VCU if we hire Odom. Will potentially be a big carousel in the mid-atlantic this year

One of the VA mid-majors should take a long look at the Randolph Macon coach. Super successful and that place has been a D1 coach factory.
