šŸ€ Next Basketball Head Coach Speculation Thread

Yeah Joe got concussed immediately and i thought it was over but then we took them behind the woodshed

It was the game right after the Tennessee disaster and Joe Harris got concussed like 35 seconds after tip.

I thought we were done for and then they went nuts and won in Tallahassee which seemed to be like our Kyrptonite.

A thrilled Digger still sounds so sleepy. The Digger-Knight combo hits like a dose of melatonin. My criteria for good commentators is ā€œgets excited about the game of basketball and tries to get you, the fan, excited too.ā€

That’s correct. And IMac cost us the game at the FT line. And Tony cost us the game by not calling timeout before that nails on a chalkboard pass by Kihei.
And Reece cost us the game by passing it to Kihei.
And the ref who called the foul on Sheds cost us the game.
And the starting lineup didn’t hit a single three that game while Furman hit 10.

Remember, UVA hired Tony Bennett after his worst season at WSU, 17-16. It’s important to step back and see the whole forest with these coaches, not get overly caught up in how they fare this one season.

Who are some ā€œbuy lowā€ candidates? The most extreme version that comes to my mind is Shaheen Holloway; under-resourced to the point that it’s a point of discussion by all the coaches in your league for a week…he should be trying to get out of there (though might be hard for him sentimentally).

I mean you want me to be rational. Next you are going to tell me the new coach will have connection to players in the portal Ive never heard of and that none of my wishlist will come true.

Nah Im firing these coaches off the list after one game

My extreme version is I want to see Mike Young with a $5 million budget. I think he’s a really good coach but I get that such a hire would bring negative energy to our program. And I want to see Porter Moser with DMV talent.

Is Moser simply a better looking Mike Young?

Moser gives me Brad Brownell vibes now. A better recruiter at Oklahoma than Brownell at Clemson though. And more accomplished in his Loyola tenure

Except he’s 69. Fantastic number, too old for a coach you want to build your program around.

Moser isn’t a buy after a dip candidate though. Unless the dip is his entire tenure at Oklahoma till this season. He’s still pretty high on my list though.

THIS IS A CLUE, ISN’T IT?

  • Danny Sprinkle, Washington

That’s all I could come up with.

Oh God Ohio State fans are catching on to Jerrod Calhoun now and talk about his Youngstown state turnaround as notable (on top of having been on Huggins’ Cincinatti staff and being a Cleveland native)… so that’s 3 schools now that have a natural connection to him that might be open (OSU WVU and Cincy).

Funny I was with an Youngstown State assistant after our game Saturday night. He had been at the STAB game before

Coincidence?

UVA is a much better job than any of those 3 schools. I also don’t think any of those jobs will open unless maybe WVU is someone can poach DeVries.

That what we are going with on his story?

Mike Rhoades probably fits the description perfectly.

Wait… Tony missed the tourney with a Senior PG (Rochestie), an NBA center (Baynes), and a Splash Brother?

Ugh, never should’ve hired him… :joy:
