Oh no I get what you mean. Sorry if that didnāt come across right, just comparing situations. Competition is not good I agree Iām just not sure on him specifically if it really matters given the ties.
Yeah itās starting to look like a crowded field. Nervous about Indiana and potentially UNC.
Basketball isnāt like football where fit and regional connections are as important. It matters some, but the list of desirable guys is the list. Theyāll all be interested in Otz, Byington, etc. We want to be higher on the other side.
Weāre gonna be on the higher side regardless, but do agree UNC is not ideal. Iām way less bullish on Indiana
Yeah I wouldnāt want the Indiana job, and I think theyāre going to go after Otz/make sure Dusty May is really sure about Michigan (buyout is only $5mā¦). But I think theyāll definitely kick the tires on Byington a bit. As will everyone else with an opening probably.
Might be for the best if the carousel stops with the us having to āsettleā for Calhoun from UT State. How will I ever recover from the disappointment?
Calhoun is also popping on some of these lists and the issues arise if Cincy actually pays Wes Millers $13 million buyout or if Devries gets knabbed from WVU, since Calhoun has coached at both places under Bob Huggins. Also if he gets targeted by Ohio State since heās a Cleveland native.
When did Cincys britches get so big? They looking to pay 10+ Ms to see off a BB coach with a 600 win%. Iāll beā¦
DeVries has been out with injury for a hot minute now and WVU still thromping Cincinatti at Cincinatti.
We should make a run at DeVries. His buyout is peanuts.
Also if weāre offering a 1 year rental Offensive Lineman over a milly when we already have 4 very good OL transfer commits I think weāre going to be willing to pay a buyout for the right basketball coach.
This HAS to be it for Mooney, right? This team is dreadful.
Keep Ron for another year and buy him a legitimate point guardā¦
Why so he can tell him that winning games isnāt what playing College Basketball is about?
Thought same thing watching that shit show yesterday but was reminded he just won the league last year. Hell they let him go 10 years between tourneyās
If we want to retain any guys, this is the option⦠Iām not sure any coach in America couldāve saved this season. I think the moment Ron gets a firm yes, Chance will commit. Anyone who disagrees or is on the fence please go watch @Merch @DFresh11 post game talk from last night. They had a special guest as well!
Link it, please.
I do not endorse this message (but maybe Iāll listen anyway)
My argument against this preemptively: (1) get a subscription to the internet, (2) download what is known as a web browser, (3) type google dot com; (4) in the search bar, type āRon Sanchez coaching historyā; and here comes the key part (5) read what you see ā¦
Hire Jerrod Calhoun. Tell Chance you will be the college Steph Curry under Calhoun. Buy a wing and a big man to pick n roll with
Alright, Iām listening @DFresh11 and @Merch ⦠will let you all know what I think ⦠Iām sure everyone is waiting with baited breath
Eh, itās all stuff weāve hashed out:
- (their point) / (my response)
- interim tag sucks and Ron canāt do anything / true, woulda been better not to have a lost year but donāt compound it
- Chance would commit if Ron were made permanent / (1) chance is good but not āname a coach now to secure himā good and (2) he just needs to wait 6 weeks to see who our coach is and he doesnāt know who will coach Tennessee in a year or two either.
- staff needs to find its footing / Ron has coached in mid major plus for 5 years. J-Willy has been here the whole time. Maybe I didnāt understand this point
- Talent stinks (Iām inferring this a bit - and they are too nice/diplomatic to say this outright) / this is true but not really an argument for Ron.
Thanks for listening I dont remember any of it but I stand behind whatever I said of course
