I liked Golden at USF, thought he would do well at UF. Heard an interview with him and seemed analytically oriented with efficiency minded basketball philosophies.
Shame he ruined his career and life cause of his own actions. A school might think they made a home run hire and then the skeletons in the closet reveal themselves.

This is one benefit about having coaches who have zero social media presence.
The fact that they’re good human beings helps too, I guess.

I’m early calling Bucky McMillan as the Gators next coach.
I don’t know. They should follow him to the other end of a rainbow — there will definitely be a pot of gold in it for them.
Expect them to make a run at Shaka, Anthony Grant, and hell maybe even Donovan. They kind of have a lame duck AD so could be tough to convince the big names.
I didn’t say first choice. I said next coach. 
I could see mutual interest with Grant, however. That’s a good call.
As for Donovan, zero chance he’s coming back to the college game to deal with the NIL/Portal era.
Well he’s probably not gonna be coaching in the NBA next year so it’s either retirement (certainly possible) or college.

Honestly. Final record and post season opportunities might not even matter. Carla might say, “Look, Tony’s system is a proven winner. Ron will be able to implement that system and continue winning.” And then give Ron 3 - 5 years to keep things going.

I remember when Samford hired McMillan people scratched their heads cause he was just a local high school coach who’d never even been on a college staff at any level.

Talking to different fans…it’s interesting how people vary on the likelihood of Sanchez getting the job. The majority seem to think UVA or the AD or whatever is just itching to do a search. I’m more in the camp of they’d love nothing better than for it to be acceptable to keep Ron. Just that it’s not so easy to say exactly what the team needs to accomplish in order for it to be acceptable. Filling the stands a lot better than Wednesday would be part of it I imagine.

They might go with an interim. The whole school admin is a mess right now. Their old President retired so they hired former Senator Ben Sasse. Sasse left unexpectedly after a year and afterward they found out that he spent millions of dollars on consultants who turned out to be his old political cronies. So the old President came back while they look for a new one. He says he doesn’t intend to make any major changes as the interim.
Meanwhile all the boosters hate the AD for making terrible coaching hires but can’t get rid of him until there’s a new President. No one’s letting the current AD make any more hires.
So a letter went out today that the football coach everyone wants gone is coming back next season. Then the Golden news hit.
