And what does Scheyer look like?ā¦except a smug, sanctimonious turd Ferguson.
Not mention what Roach K looks likeā¦
I watched the long interview w Kyle. Impossible to watch and not be in the continuity camp.
Every time I check this thread, it seems like there are 150 new posts, and they all say the same thing that was said in the last 150 posts.
Honestly, I thought there would be more support for Ron on this forum just for the fact that he brought back the orange uniforms.
This is Sanchez country.
Dude we got guys on the board still arguing that Huff didnt play enough when the Hoos won a ship.
The Ron wars will burn on forever and we will tell legends of it to our children in the way our farthers told us of the Kihei wars.
Idle hands are the devilās playthings.
This is false. I watched it and still VERY MUCH want change.
We gotta quit living in the past. Our last tourney win was the natty. The system is broken. Our coaches are all exceptional human beings. That truth doesnāt change the results.
Blow. It. Up.
Gillen still lives in Charlottesville. Hollywood does the best with sequels.
Folks donāt want continuity. They want nostalgia. Some (like Tony, apparently, given his asinine last amateur bullshit) want continuity with 2019 like the ensuing years never happenedā¦
Tony wouldnāt know amateur hoops if it showed up to his financial advisorās office at the same time as him. Iād probably peg last amateur maybe in 1979. Bird and Magic blew it up because they made everyone love the tourneyā¦
Tony is nostalgic for a professional era where coaches got rich and got all the power. He didnāt like having to share that power. Admire that if you like, but please at least be clear-eyed about it.
I always (and still) find the Kihei wars an interesting discussion because he really was the best and worst of CTBās tendencies and really was great at times and very poor at times - so there was a lot of nuance there.
The pro Ron argument seems primarily based in emotion and sentimentality, at least at this point.
To give Tony some credit, heās directly responsible for the insane amount of generational wealth created by the players he helped develop. You could fill a roster with the players he coached that will make over $100MM playing basketball. I can say with confidence that the amounts being earned by our players would likely be meaningfully less had they gone elsewhere and played for different coaches. He also turned down numerous opportunities to further enrich himself.
All that said, yeah that comment last week was pretty telling. Itās probably for the best that he removed himself from the game rather than trying to do things the āright wayā in this new era. I also think by making such a comment he may have accidentally hurt Ronās chances of getting the job.
I joke but Iām not sure Iāve ever experienced a played I liked and respected and hated and was frustrated by all at the same time. Kihei was absolutely one of a kind.
Was instrumental in giving the program itās greatest moment and could also be considered the spark that led to the programs downfall.
Totally agree! And I do credit him with that. (Which undercuts the silly comments even moreā¦)
Are you kidding? Ron having an NC State-like run would be incredible and bizarre and a ton of fun. Giving him a 3-year contract would be a small price to pay for a front row seat to that glorious insanity.
He loses twice to a lousy VT team ⦠that could be a nail in the coffin for his chances. Yeah, we are not any better than the VT team but still galling to lose to them in anything other than bass fishing.
Also just hit me that you snubbbed LRA event this year
Weāre far more talented than them, but yeah something about conceding on coaching to them might shock people to their senses.
Of course! It would be a lot of fun. My point was wondering if that would be enough to retain him. It hasnāt worked out well for NC St.
