🏀 Next Basketball Head Coach Speculation Thread

We need to make sure the next coach has the support of our basketball alum that played for Tony. Could built a nice NIL war chest of contributions from Dre, Trey, Joe, Malcom, Sam, and Ty when he gets his new deal.

Jerrod Calhoun is a hell of a coach. I would not be disappointed if he ended up as our guy.

One wild card I’d throw out there is Brian Earl at W&M. They won 10 games last year, they hire him and he’s got them running crazy. Lots of cuts and quick open shots on offense (Princeton ties) and they fly around on defense.

He’s been there one year so I know it’s tricky but he’s got good stuff.

Exactly what I posted above. But likely he won’t be involved with this search.

Princeton guy, right?

Love this. Hire this man.

Yep. Played there and then was an assistant for like eight years before he went to Cornell.

I want this generation’s Randy Bennett, even if he’s not well known, still in D2, whatever. Runs really good actions on offense, and gets his guys to grind on defense.

And fine if it’s fast paced, but with purpose. See Jim Crutchfield.

i am sold.

My prediction is that it will be someone who’s going to make us all go “what?”

Two birds one stone games for the sickos out there that were played in ooc this season
Eric Olen at Jerrod Calhoun

Odom at Pitino Jr

For guys like @Cuts_from_The_Corner who want film and whatnot

Should have put a trigger warning on the USCD vs Utah St game it’s a zone vs zone game cause both teams have shit athletes. I didn’t last one minute

Is there anyone we can hire that could land Jordan Smith from Paul VI?

Calvin Baker was an assistant PVI for a few years and then an assistant under Byington at JMU and is still at JMU I think

Stanford’s AD is expected to resign. Hey Kyle Smith, you want to know who you’re working for, right? Have you met Carla Williams?

In the context of McCasland at Texas Tech being the next best thing, I really do see a lot of similarities in him and Jerrod Calhoun Career wise.

Posted in the VIP thread but Calhoun:

-Won an NAIA title

-Runner up at the D2 level (to Ben McCollum) and a few other D2 runs

-Was on Bob Huggins staff for a few tournament runs including West Virginia’s 2010 final 4

-Inherited a godawful Youngstown St team and got them to a 20 win a year program.

-Got to Utah st that lost a few players but kept two of their starters and rattled off 3 Q1 wins while having a top 20 offense (that is even catching the eyes of NBA twitter folks)

Trilly hinting that Rohde and someone else will be on the transfer thread tomorrow. Mentions UVA is “low hanging fruit” and doesn’t post their names unless he knows there is a school connected to them
