Still think we beat Tennessee if JR Reynolds didnāt roll his ankle
Oh we absolutely do, JR was cooking them.
We wouldāve got rolled in the S16 by Ohio State though. Imagine us trying to guard Greg Oden in the post with the trio of Jason Cain, Lars Mikalauskas, and Ryan Pettinella.
I guess more so the point I was trying to make was we had 4 consecutive years of getting a win in the tournament. Thats impressive.
I also really donāt care about margin of defeat. An L is an L⦠hell honestly I prefer getting teeth kicked in as compared to a close loss. Lot easier to accept the defeat.
This one still hurts. I remember getting a new job in 2020 and introducing myself to my new team. I mentioned I was a huge UVa basketball fan and this dumbass blurted out āUMBCā right away.
I told him if heād really wanted to piss me off he should have referenced this game instead.
Managed him out in less than a year, but Iād have done it in half that if heād known what button to push.
Looks like there is no ACC hot seat anymore. Someone tell Jim Christian itās safe to come back:

Only really surprised about Hubert and that was/if they donāt end up making the tourney.
I think there will be another step in the Wake story. Thereās real beat the posse out of town energy brewing in Winston.
Itās a bit early for Autry (only year 2), but I figured one of Forbes, Grant, or Young might have gotten the ax.
I feel like a lot of mediocre coaches are using the NIL excuse as a way to get another year or two
And I think the Hubert thing is explained by:
- Oops, we timed the contract extension wrong
- Letās hope us hiring like eleven GMs fixes the problem
Not sure if those explanations reflect particularly well on the decision making process, but they are explanations.
Grant feels hard to evaluate. Had them going in the right direction last season and then they got back none of their quality potential returners. Zackery-Harris Jr-Hand Jr-McGlockton would have been a pretty good core, with Madsen as a bench shooter. How much do you fault Grant for that?
The ACC is bordering on a mid-major conference now. And feels like fans skipped the middle stages of grief and went pretty quickly from denial to acceptance.
Autry will be kept around because they have Meloās kid coming in next season. Hubert they misstimed the contract.
Not sure what you can say about Forbes. Not clear to me why they wouldnāt can him this season.
Young and Grant are both good coaches, both in one of the now handful of high major jobs where theyāve been given no chance at all of success due to NIL limitationsā¦will change now with rev sharing.
Things donāt look good for Autry, but I donāt believe in firing anyone after 2 years, gotta give him a little more rope. And assuming Wake misses the tourney, Iād be surprised if Forbes is backā¦heāll find a comfy landing spot on his own.
Autry also has a good (on paper) recruiting class coming in (including the buzz from having Meloās kid coming) so I think you let things play out. Maybe he gets Freeman back?
Forbes seems like a prime candidate for the āEnfieldā and finding a new spot. Maybe he will slide into whatever Midwest job opening DeVries and McCollum donāt take.
The number of players in the SEC that transferred in from ACC schools and making major contributions is the story of the decline of the ACC.
The casualness and acceptance of this is fans is a big part of the reason itās happening. Half the league is in areas where the pro teams come first.
Miles Kelly from Georgia Tech dropped 30 for Auburn the other day in their win over Kentucky.
Sean Pedulla balling at Ole Miss.
I wonder if the issue is a lot of these schools are so focused on staying competitive in football to preserve existence as an athletics department.
If we do end up pulling a Byington, I actually hope Odom goes to another ACC school. The path for the ACC to get back to being relevant starts with replacing all the pedestrian coaches. Apart from Brownell and Mike Young (Maybe Enfield), every ACC school could do better IMO.
Kelsey seems good - Iād be thrilled if I was a Louisville fan right now given how terrible theyāve been.
And as much as I canāt stand Scheyer, I wouldnāt put him in that category either.
