Should be noted that Princeton (Mitch Henderson) scored 83 & took down a Rutgers team with 2 top-5 picks today

Yep

After this year Ty’s going to be too rich to be a college coach. Same reason Joe will never be a college coach even though he’d make a good one

Penny Hardaway made $120 million in the NBA. Danny Manning made $60 million.

If Ty and Joe want to get into coaching, they will.

Penny isn’t really comparable to anyone else given his prodigal son status in Memphis. Unique situation there.

You have some examples like Manning and Juwan Howard but it’s not common. Much more common for guys who make tens of millions to coach in the NBA or just coach a local high school. A ton of headaches that come with college coaching you don’t have to deal with in the pros. Even more now in the NIL and transfer portal era

I know what you mean in Prodigal son for Anfernee but I dont think that was really the case

The way he got back into coaching was joining childhood friend who got cancer as head coach for junior high team and eventually Penny took over and stayed with the team as they went to HS then got the Memphis job

Didn’t mean to diss him or anything. Just that he has a special place in that city and without that pressure who knows if he would’ve coached in college.

Either way I feel comfortable predicting Malcolm, Joe, Dre, Trey, Sam, and Ty combine for 0 career college basketball games as a head coach. If I had to back a ā€˜former TB player becomes successful CBB head coach’ I’d bet Devon Hall

Yea i get it and agrer on hoo might coach in college. I think Justin once said he wanted to coach one day. Auspice of being on TBs staff so…

IMO, Tony likely intimated to Kyle that he could get him his start this year or never. Seems unlikely that CTB would string him out like that without at least broaching the possibility with him. ā€œHey Kyle, do you think you’d want to coach someday? If so I can get you going now but it needs to be this year because I’m closeā€ No inside info obvs but seems like a pretty fast decision from Kyle.

As stuff gets hammered out for college revenue… contract lengths for players etc.
I can see more pro type coaches going college route….
Players asked for it (pay) so now treat them
and coach them like professionals…
Soon there won’t be unlimited transfers for those that are receiving monies.
And most decent programs will have GMs for scouting and recruiting.

I am warming up to the Mackay look. They are 12-1 with some good wins (K State, McNeese) and average 81.4 ppg…

Guards/Wings:
Freddie Dilione, Silas Demary Jr (flipped by his buddy Dilione), TyRell Ward (redshirting this season/homesick), Elijah Gertrude, Christian Bliss, Chance Mallory

Forwards: Elijah Saunders, Jacob Cofie, Anthony Robinson, Malcolm Thomas (redshirt at Villanova/athletic freak 4), Carter Lang

edit: Im assuming McKneely ends up at Kentucky

I’m a big Ritchie fan. He’s struck a good balance between adopting TB’s overall philosophy while keeping his own identity. They play similarly, most of the same strengths and weaknesses you associate with Bennett, yet it’s always been a more free flowing player friendly style. Just a really good likeable guy too, players love him.

My concern with him is the same as with some other mid major coaches…there are things you can get away with at that level. He loves skilled guys…the athleticism gap isn’t as big there so It’s easier to get away with. I have doubts UVA will consider him but I’d be happy with the hire.

Never gonna happen but Will Wade would be fun. Would like to see him in ACC (FSU or Miami maybe)

Why does everyone assume Kentucky over WVU? The latter is playing better than the former, and it’s his home state.

Poca to Morgantown: 2 hours, 37 minutes

Poca to Lexington: 2 hours, 30 minutes.

Definitely more Mountaineer loyalty in the area but plenty of UK Hoops fandom too. State line is like 45 minutes down I-64.
