Nope - don’t want him or the Furman or Ohio guy … want a clean break from last 10 years…
Guy would be the only connection I want back.

Oh great, 2 guys from the 2018 UMBC staff.

J/k. I hold nothing against Odom for being on the other side of our greatest embarrassment. Aldrich as an assistant doesn’t change my view that I’d be perfectly happy if we hired Odom (or maybe about a dozen guys of varying levels of obtainability).

I had the same thought.

I want Byington if he’s an option, but I have my doubts about whether or not he is. Probably gonna be tough to get him after only one season at Vandy.

Can’t lie and say Bucky ball wouldn’t be fun as hell.

Schedule has been a joke other than a few games for VCU, so those efficiency numbers are pretty worthless IMO. In fact in his two years at VCU, their non-conference schedules have been comically bad. Coach Grant and Shaka actually play people and beat them. It’s a HUGE drop-off to Odom after those guys.

The more I look at the list of coaching candidates the more I get excited and I want Bucky McMillan of Samford. Full court press?! Sign me up. 80 points per game?! Sign me up. He’s my favorite guy I’d want to come here. It’d be a 100 percent reversal of a lot of the things we’ve seen under Tony Bennett and it’d the breath of fresh air, drastic changes that the program needs.

I can’t speak for everybody here, but I’m pretty sick and tired of scoring in the 40s and 50s. Bucky could open things up and really let our guys run and get back to exciting basketball. Hell, I forget which game it was (I want to say Bethune Cookman), we ran the fast break like three or four times, I felt like I could breathe again. I’m fascinated to see if he’d be interested in coming here. I also love that he’s in his early 40s, which is something I hope we’re looking for in the next candidate. I want a guy who’s going to be here for 15 maybe even 20 years. And it is a crap shoot like a couple of people above have mentioned. But Bucky seems special.

Three 7A basketball championships
Two 6A basketball championships
Two Runner Ups
Seven Final Four appearances

333-74 in 12 seasons in high school.

Three-time SoCon Coach of the Year (2022-2024).

Sign me up for Bucky Ball. I’m all the way in!!

When has that ever been a consistent winner in the ACC?

Even Keatts has gone away from it, and Gillen stuck with it until it was too late for him.

Take two of these along with a Keith Jenifer nut punch and you’ll feel back to normal in the morning.

The only concern I have with Bucky is his defenses have been abysmal at Samford, it’s entirely predicated around creating turnovers and not much else. It’s not like it’s just because of the high tempo either, even adjusted for pace they’ve all been ranked in the 200’s.

Trying to get out of Texas before he gets canned.

Yeah I bet Rodney Terry is interested in literally any power 5 job currently LOL

Agree. Fits into the category of midmajor coaches who will have to adjust their style when scaling up. And for me, I think that’s also about what personnel you play.

Damn I miss Brad Daugherty. Why’d he have to go to nascar and then the NBA

No doubt! He has literally NO CHANCE at our job. None. About as much as I do of dating Marisa Tomei (my all-time crush so sue me).

Between Texas being meh and Tang’s K-State team having issues for a second straight year, the ā€œelite assistantā€ archetype is looking less appealing.

LRA needs to do the oral history of the Jenifer nut punch. Patsos, Watson, etc.
