J/k. I hold nothing against Odom for being on the other side of our greatest embarrassment. Aldrich as an assistant doesnāt change my view that Iād be perfectly happy if we hired Odom (or maybe about a dozen guys of varying levels of obtainability).

Schedule has been a joke other than a few games for VCU, so those efficiency numbers are pretty worthless IMO. In fact in his two years at VCU, their non-conference schedules have been comically bad. Coach Grant and Shaka actually play people and beat them. Itās a HUGE drop-off to Odom after those guys.

The more I look at the list of coaching candidates the more I get excited and I want Bucky McMillan of Samford. Full court press?! Sign me up. 80 points per game?! Sign me up. Heās my favorite guy Iād want to come here. Itād be a 100 percent reversal of a lot of the things weāve seen under Tony Bennett and itād the breath of fresh air, drastic changes that the program needs.
I canāt speak for everybody here, but Iām pretty sick and tired of scoring in the 40s and 50s. Bucky could open things up and really let our guys run and get back to exciting basketball. Hell, I forget which game it was (I want to say Bethune Cookman), we ran the fast break like three or four times, I felt like I could breathe again. Iām fascinated to see if heād be interested in coming here. I also love that heās in his early 40s, which is something I hope weāre looking for in the next candidate. I want a guy whoās going to be here for 15 maybe even 20 years. And it is a crap shoot like a couple of people above have mentioned. But Bucky seems special.

The only concern I have with Bucky is his defenses have been abysmal at Samford, itās entirely predicated around creating turnovers and not much else. Itās not like itās just because of the high tempo either, even adjusted for pace theyāve all been ranked in the 200ās.

Agree. Fits into the category of midmajor coaches who will have to adjust their style when scaling up. And for me, I think thatās also about what personnel you play.
