Edit* - honestly this is probably one of the better examples of how process-oriented Bennett was vs. how results-focused Odom is. Like, the actual defensive output wasn’t Bennett’s primary concern - it was the fundamentals of the execution. Where Odom is much more just “what works” and will always lean toward that.

Personally, I gravitate more toward the latter philosophy - but there’s certainly merit in the former and may have a higher ceiling when given the ability to refine longer term.

Tony was at his best in the ACC regular season. 2nd best was ACC-T. Then came noncon regular season. And last was NCAA-T.

Tony’s style was better the more we played teams. He was worse when he had less time to adjust.

I’d argue by 2024, there were other bigger issues (mostly talent), but is an interesting unified theory, if you like unified theories (and I do).
