Thatās the famous Dizzy Bat Dribble Drive.
We had that play in middle school. Itās called āThe Rusty Gateā and itās hard to defend because it takes a long time for the play to develop. Couple that with a lack of explosiveness and itās a real problem for the defense because, in addition to its slow pace, defenders have to fight against boredom and perplexity as well.
I feel like thatās half the dudes in the NBA when they see Wemby now.
Always gotta at least try a shot fake and jump into a taller defender
I love Lauren Betts
Itās funny, some are clearly exhausted by it⦠these years later, I still find the whole Kihei tenure probably the single most interesting and impactful thing to have happened to the program from the Natty year on.
Itās such a study in extremes. He was both CTBās best coaching move and worst.
Totally random but Gary Cohen is 100% correct based on the two times I was in St Louis.
Itās so odd. Thereās a ton of big buildings, but even during the workday, itās not really clear who is in them.
Not even trying to make this a NYC vs other places thing. Iāve been in various midsize cities and none give off the same desolate / ominous vibe as St Louis. (And this was all pre Covid!)

Cincy feels kinda like that actually
Yep!
Iām in Austin now, one of my St Louis friends was visiting in the fall and we were walking around the vibrant Austin downtown one Sunday evening and he was shocked, didnāt realize cities could actually have that kind of energy.
I will always have a lot of affection for St Louis, but itās still pretty lacking in a lot of ways for a city its size.
That was my experience. Iāve only spent 2 days in STL about 10 years ago and it was dead during the day. We walked all over downtown and there was barely anyone out. I will say we went to a Cardinals down and Iāll give the city credit for showing out. The area around the stadium was buzzing especially for a random Wednesday game in May. That part impressed me.
@DFresh11 youāre right about Cincinnati too. But their downtown is not really built to hangout in. At least it wasnāt when I lived there. Theyāve done a ton of work to rehab it and itās better. But you could cross the river to Covington and fine way more people being out and about than youāll see around Fountain Sq in Cinci.
Atlanta is like that as well. Downtown isnāt walking area and is mostly dead unless you go over by Ga. State. Thereās the College Football HOF and Centennial Park area all by the Stadiums but those areas are largely ghost towns. Most people are back in the neighborhoods that have far more vibrant and engaging areas.
I was pleasantly surprised by Columbus OH the one time I was there (for the NCAA in 2007). A lot to do and good vibes. Core itself maybe a little sleepy but arena district and German town or whatever they call it, were very walkable.
I assume college town + state capitol vibe helps.
What the heck is the capitol of Missouri w/o looking it up? Like Carson City or something like that?
Columbia? Or that just where Mizzu is?
Columbus is a surprisingly fun downtown area. Very walkable lots of things going on
I had to google it. Jefferson City. No idea where that it / why that is
Yea, I woulda got that one wrong. And my wife is from Missouri I should know better.
Jefferson City, MO. Carson City is the capital of Nevada.
I am sad that itās still that way (so many cities have been successfull at revitalizing their downtown areas). I had an engagement in the early aughts with a downtown St Louis Misery client and stayed in Clayton to have somewhere to go at night.
@Haney Jeff City is actually just due south of Columbia, maybe a half hour drive
Iād draft him #1. I see all the downside but he looks like a generational talent if he hits

I think Dybantsa is the clear #1 to me at this point. Higher floor, higher ceiling.
Maybe could argue that Peterson has higher potential to reach his ceiling though.
Give me Caleb Wilson
