Nolan is a true 3 and D wing. Plays tough defense, probably slides up to guard front court players better than sliding down to guard guards. Smart player and can pass, not much of a dribble though.
More physical version of Lewis? Less finesse/ mid range more downhill driving and defense?
I wouldn’t expect much driving. More spot up shooting on offense. He’s more beneficial on the defensive end IMO
Ladies and gentlemen…

But he’s 60/85 from 2? I imagine a good chunk of that is in transition but on tape it does look like he’s able to get to the rim and use his size/strength to finish.
Credit to the Steven Ashworth and Odom connection here?
Think about those percentages and his actual production… means he didn’t do much other than wide open stuff.
I mean he scored in double figures 14 of the 32 games he started on a very average team. I think that’s more than just bunnies or wide open stuff.
The video highlights I saw showed him repeatedly finishing at the rim through contact. Admittedly, they were highlights, and I am unsure how his European game will translate into a U.S. college game. Regardless, last year, much of Virginia’s success, IMO, was due to the production Coach Odom garnered from the bench. While UVa returned most of a nice starting core, next year’s bench has been a question mark in my mind. Slowly, it seems to me that Coach Odom is rebuilding that bench. Replacing Onyenso’s, White’s and Mallory’s bench production will be a tall order. Tillis’, too. Hopefully, Adekunle is another brick in that wall.
Andrew Gaze vibes
A nice breakdown of Adekunle as a player and his potential fit into our lineup. Having him out there as our starting small forward really would give us a bruising, sharpshooting lineup with Chance being the floor general. There’s some serious potential here
the same Sports Illustrated author reinforcing his case of Adekunle as our potential starting small forward
Per the author, he shoots like Jacari and blocks shots like Ugo. That sounds amazing! Happy offseason, everyone!
Not to be a hater, but that phrase doesn’t really mean what it did 20 years ago. That’s their fan-blog side, their Bleacher Report equivalent. The author was literally writing Cav Daily articles two months ago. So, ya know, grain of salt.
I’ve got him coming off the bench. Give me more speed and ball handling with that last starter spot.
If you could Start only one?
- Sam
- Nolan
I believe he meant he could play the same amount of minutes and have the role of coming off of the bench and providing the “spark” that Jacari did, but as a wing and not a combo guard.
The blocking like Ugo bit is ridiculous I don’t know where that came from.
if the team is known for tenacious defense I’d prefer Dixon, but other than that give me Kunle with Chance as the ball dominant floor general surrounded by tall, physical sharpshooters that can make up for his lack of height.
Yeah, totally. Just struck me a bit funny. I do think the adds (esp. Dixon, Adekunle, Anya) should help out quite a bit on defense, especially as compared to the minutes they’ll be replacing (Malik Thomas, Jacari White, Devin Tillis, etc.). I can’t remember what Vide’s defensive rep is.
But we are not recreating Ugo (dominant shot blocker off the bench, replacing our very good starting center shot blocker)
Not sure I’ve seen these highlights posted yet. I like these……he seems more, fluid? quicker? in these. Also notice he does not hesitate to pull the trigger even if closely guarded from 3. Most from other clips he was pretty much wide open. Also more game off the dribble on display
