šŸ€ Non-ACC / Non-UVa Basketball - 2025 Offseason

Current state of top 25s and a consensus. Duke and Lville top 10ish. NCSt and UNC in a few top 25s but not the consensus

Plus this:

That’s probably a little too much groupthink for this time of year. I’d expect to see more projections like SI.com, which included teams like Virginia, San Diego State, Baylor and Iowa. Those four don’t appear on anyone else’s Top 25. That kind of variety of thought is needed.

Also Tugler is hurt and will miss the summer. Another reason to short Houston IMO.

I know summer session 2 starts June 15th. But wish the team could have moved in earlier to get a head start, especially since other programs are already running full practices

I think programs have 8 total weeks to use over the summer (at least in the docs I could find), so it just means they will end earlier/give breaks at different times of the summer.

Enforced by who exactly? NCAA got people stationed up at each school?

Usually each school’s compliance staff. Self-reporting violations used to mean slaps on the wrist whereas hiding them meant more trouble. But in this era of NCAA non-enforcement, who knows?

Gonzaga love makes no sense to me, especially over San Diego St.

What league are those teams even in this year? Is it a reconstituted PAC-12?

A: zags not until 2026. Not sure about the MWC teams and Wazzu/Or St

Mark Few respect factor kinda like how we got shoved in the back half of a lot of top 25s even in 2021-22 when the roster was meh.

Agree that SDSU will be nasty.

I would think you’d want to frontload these if possible-- give them stuff to work on on their own for the rest of the summer afterward/get to know each other maybe? I’m sure there are different schools of thought to it though.

Given the competing factors of class schedules and international competition, I wouldn’t think 2 weeks difference over 5 months is gonna make much difference. Especially since there is a cap of total time

And I do suspect all teams hew to that cap.

Is his claim that the NCAA is engaging in anti-competitive behavior by creating and enforcing the 4 year eligibility rule?

Oh yeah, if the DoJ is saying pay attention to the student part of student athlete, they’re siding against Zeigler here. I have some thoughts on why they’re doing this, but I’ll pass on making political commentary here.

I’m pretty sure Alston or another case said that the NCAA still had the ability to set eligibility rules, but I can’t find it at the moment. I’m pretty sure the NCAA should win this one though.

Kansas pulling off what some ACC teams can’t, playing UNC-Duke-NC State in the same season.

That’s a robust non-con. 2 road power conference games, 2 neutral sites, plus the MTE.

But Gonzaga was bad last year and hasn’t done much with the roster to convince anyone that they should be better.

Towson as part of the Nick Timberlake deal?

And all that PLUS a game against Gottlieb?

DG at it again!

Our football team had to schedule an OOC game vs NC State to make the Duke-UNC-NC State trifecta happen this season.

Oh I’m not saying they’re right, I just assume that’s the reasoning

Final roster for future opponent Maryland. Didn’t realize they landed Darius Adams, the 5 star guard we quickly offered but never really recruited (thought he was UConn bound).
