They were really good.
Side note - that was first CD I ever bought with the parental advisory sticker on it

Coming home from work today, and heard âRocket Queenâ â a great effing song but also a killer closer to âAppetite for Destructionâ
Which got me thinking: What are the best album closers in modern â post-1960 â music?
Off the top of my head, Iâd put âRocket Queenâ up there. And for me: Probably âRock n Roll Suicideâ (âZiggy Stardustâ), âMoonlight Mileâ (âSticky Fingersâ), the end medley on âAbbey Road,â âPurple Rainâ (closer on its own album), andâŠ. âBitches Ainât Shitâ (âThe Chronicâ).
Oh damn. Steve Cropper died. Iâm sure there are more famous songs, but this is the one Iâll always remember him for.
Another great loss for the music world. Last night the incomparable Raul Malo, lead vocalist of the Mavericks, died due to cancer. He was an incredible talent and songwriter, but also an amazingly good person. If you have ever been to a Mavericks concert, you know what a joy it was to see him and his mates perform. We will miss you Raul.
Oh man, thatâs awful - he had such an amazing voice. My little band plays the Mavericksâ version of Here Comes My Baby.
Oh no! I just saw the Mavericks in June, and Raul sounded great. I had no idea he was sick. The Mavericks were on the bill for Tedeschi Trucks Bandâs Sun, Sand & Soul weekend in April 2026. I was considering the trip in part because I wanted to hear Raulâs voice again. What a loss.
