Just want to note, while the Carson Edwards comparisons are definitely legit, I certainly would hope Green ends up being a better, or at least more discerning, shooter than Edwards was his last year. We’re all biased re Edwards because of the game he had against us, he also had the ability to shoot Purdue out of a game, and did frequently that last season. Overall, he only shot 39.4% from the field his last year in college on pretty massive volume. His career numbers look somewhat better, but I still have higher hopes for Green honestly.
This is why I knew we would win…
Green is also more of a true pg than Carsen. True floor leader.
Man I really want Elijah Gertrude but at the 1 spot. I think Cosby is a better fit as the off guard. But at the same time I like Elijah more than all the other guards we are recruiting except the same as Trey Green.
Baby Peja dropping top 6 today
UCLA, Duke, Stanford, UConn, Texas, Kansas is my guess for baby Peja. Maybe UVA makes it as the 6th team/filler spot.
no Kentucky?
We are in no position to look down upon 39% high volume 3 point shooters.
We NEED 39% three point shooters.
No 39% from the field in general. Not just 3. 39% from the field is pretty mediocre.
Yeah, I think there are two types of top lists - the real, I’ve narrowed it down to my favorites lists and the here are my best offers so I can look good list.
Carson was a terrible 2 point shooter and terrible at the rim. Green is none of those.
He’s way more athletic than Edwards. And a way better shooter - simply more consistent.
Not the best comp - but a way better one would be Kemba Walker
yeah throw them in there too.
Damn wish I got up 10 threes a game
Yeah, Clark is 38% from the field for his career at UVA. He touched 41% in one season but his other seasons have been between 35% and 39%.
So he was better from 2 than I remembered …
For clarification, Edwards was pretty much the entirety of Purdue’s offense in 2019. I highly doubt Green will ever be asked to do as much as Edwards did his last year in college.
Edwards was 27/99 in 9 losses in '18/'19. That’s taking eleven 3’s a game and not even making three of them. It’s not his overall 3% that’s a problem. It’s knowing when they aren’t falling and not letting someone else do the shooting that night. He had capable alternatives and as a guard he had the ball in his hands to make that decision.
Shooting your way out of a slump sounds heroic when a shooter like Guy says it. It kinda sucks when it costs you a game.
*cough cough Ty Davis
Hell, I hope he’s not asked to do as much as Kihei has.
Yeah, my casual impression of Purdue’s 2019 offense was that they had some intricate offensive stuff (e.g., to try to get Guy’s buddy open on the wing), but good teams would stop that stuff, and then it was just Carsen Edwards freelancing.
