The absolute best. Kearney NJ native. When he did our games he knew EVERY player. Beyond special
Does his research for every game he’s assigned to, knows basketball inside and out, keeps the shit he says on topic/doesn’t go off on random tangents, and has catchphrases that don’t annoy the fuck out of you.
And ESPN let him walk.
Future UVA coach Byington has Vandy in an OT barn burner against Missouri.
His sister is a nun. Thank Cathy Haney for that random anecdote
Silas Demary with a nice shot over Kadin and shit talking him. What could have been (and what could be)
Lol
This is pretty interesting from Mr. Pom.
Among power conferences, the better the league, the more likely their rating will drop during the tournament. I’ve added the linear trend, but it’s not certain that the trend is linear. The very best conferences have underperformed even more than the linear trend would indicate.
What does this all mean? It’s another example of how preseason priors are still useful in informing predictions late in the season.3 I think by March we have a pretty good idea about how teams stack up relative to others within a conference. You can get away without any team priors at this point in this season.
However, there’s not enough in-season data to know precisely where conferences stack up relative to each other. We basically have zero information on that front since January 1st. So you can amaze your friends by predicting that conferences that did extremely well in November and December will revert to the mean during postseason play. You’ll probably be right.
So stupid
This is suddenly an annual event with teams being ineligible to compete in the tournament they earned a ticket to.
This is absurd.
Not really - his first year was same as Reece and this is his 4th year - he sat out a year.
Remember - Reece should have been our PG this year and taken us to the promised land.
Yes really, Baker-Mazara was born January 2000, Reece was born October 2001, they’re 21 months apart in age. Baker-Mazara may have started as a member of the 2020 class, but he was already a year old for the class. Which, I get, “everyone does it,” (Dunn was born in Jan '03 and arrived at UVA summer of '22 already 19 1/2 years old) but it doesn’t make it any less absurd when a game intended to be for traditionally undergraduate-aged athletes features guys already in their mid-20’s.
Oh I completely agree! I don’t think anyone older than 23 should be allowed to compete in a college sport except for military service.
Nah I’ll stick to my guns here. He’s basically Luka doncic’s age! It’s insane
The 5th year stuff has been worse for college sports these past few years than any other change. Will be so glad when it’s mostly over this year.
My younger daughter was just telling me about Sedona Prince at TCU who will not only turn 25 this May, but she may still have a year of eligibility to go.
Antonio Clary started at Virginia in January 2019. He graduated in 2022. Got his masters already. Will play his 7th football season this fall. I don’t know how old he is, but if he was age appropriate for his class, he’ll turn 25 this upcoming school year. If he was held back or started late, he might be 25 already.
To be fair, Luka’s absurd.
Drake down 9 at half to carter whitt and belmont conference semifinal
