I think a lot of them just found him to be pretty full of shit too. He is not a well liked guy by just about anyone that spends more than a little bit of time with him.

I was thinking the same thing when his name was being floated. No AD, no roster, messy situation overallâŚBuzz seems like a guy that can at least hold everything together and get a respectable team on the floor quickly.

But is he stabilizing? I get wanting a turnaround artist for a few years, but heâs liable to leave your program just as bad as he found it.
Like I view Odom as at worst pretty stabilizing for us. He may not achieve great heights, but it sounds like he is serious about getting our transfer/NIL operation in order, and I trust him to leave the program in a decent situation.
Buzz is likely to leave you with an empty roster and even more pissed off fans, as well as a very sweaty court.

I think thatâs probably not far off the average coach transition experience nowadays. What departing coach hasnât left an empty roster this or last season?
Buzz will give you 6 seasons on the dot at least before moving into his next renovation project.

Nothing that I recall. Did a good chunk of digging and looks like we just havenât been announced yet. Most of the ESPN-organized events havenât been figured out yet.
At one point, weâd been linked to the Players Era event in Vegas, which is the big NIL Purse event [no idea if the house settlement changes how that operates] but as of now I no longer see us attached to that event. ND and Syracuse are the ACC teams attached.
Other ACC assignments that have been publicized:
- NC State going to Maui
- VT has Battle 4 Atlantis
- GT has Emerald Coast Classic
- UNC will do Fort Myers
- Louisville is at the Mohegan Sun for the Hall of Fame Classic

Gotta figure over the medium term, Maui will be back on the menu with Dave Odomâs connection. But I used this same leap of logic to predict Coach O on this staff, so letâs see how it plays out

The funny thing is its fun to think of MD as being a mess, but how much of that is because theyâre the Terps and its fun for us to clown on them vs them actually being a mess. I mean, since they joined the B1G for the 2015 season, theyâve gone to the NCAA tournament in 7 of 11 seasons (and one miss was the Covid-cancellation and they probably would have been a 3 or 4-seed) and while they havenât gotten past the S16, theyâve made it that far twice and only lost in the first round once.
I mean, yeah, theyâre a mess right now and theyâve had a crappy couple weeks, and with the portal everyoneâs team is getting reset every season. But its a stretch to say âtheyâre a team in disarrayâ or whatever in any kind of broader sense.

Nah, thatâs too bloodless. In context, theyâre a total mess. A few seasons when they started ranked really high and were a big disappointment. Broke up with two coaches in a row when the coach was basically like âF these fansâ. Went to a sweet 16, and had their coach leave town for a better gig up 95, and THEN hired a guy known for leaving town on a schedule.
And thereâs more if I wanted to belaborâŚ

Every guy who coaches there hates the travel. Except Buzz. Buzz will probably be like âI do my best thinking in an airplane in severe turbulenceâ because heâs the oddest MFer in hoops.
