šŸˆ Outside UVa Football Offseason 2024

Agree not a good look

I talked to a couple of Michigan diehards after the natty.

They both were at peace with Harbaugh leaving and happy for him to do so. Felt like with all he had been through it was the perfect opportunity for him to go out on top.

Feel worse for Washington fans to be honest.

He was pretty mediocre at Penn State ā€” 15-9 in two seasons, at a football factory/blueblood.

In his defense, didnā€™t he take over at PSU right after the Sandusky stuff came to light? I donā€™t remember what happened to the football program but I imagine that wasnā€™t the ideal situation.

So does this mean Ohio State goes 100% no huddle??? That will be interestingā€¦

For me, the interesting part about the Chip Kelly move is the timing and the cheapness that UCLA let him go. 1.5mil is less than the buyout he reportedly negotiated earlier this year. Feels like UCLA wanted to move on from Chip but didnā€™t want to payout his 8mil salary. Now they get their wish, but itā€™s so late in the year thereā€™s virtually no coaches of name left on the market.

Maybe youā€™ll get an unsolicited e-mail to come to LA and help train the team for a yearā€¦ like the Chinese Rugby team!

Haha Iā€™d be far more likely to answer an email from UCLA to go west and coach for a year not my favorite part of LA but I could manage.

Now if UCLA is calling me to suit up and play ala the Chinese rugby team then they need to talk to my handler @DFresh11 to discuss my NIL package.

He would just negotiate stock options.

Chip like ā€œI ainā€™t recruiting anymoreā€ and goes to a place where everyone else can handle it better.

Actually a damn great point.

@jazznutUVA I was part of the 08 Tech bust no stock options here. Just straight cash homie

Chip Kelly leaving UCLA to replace Oā€™Brien as OSU OC. Thatā€™s a huge strike against UCLA for their head coach to leave to be an assistant at another school in the same conference.

What the hell are you talking aboutā€¦oh wait, I have no idea whoā€™s in what conference anymore

The only thing I can conclude is Green Bay Packers DC job > Boston College head coach job > Ohio State OC job > UCLA head coach job

Transitive property always gives you the right answer, right?

Thatā€™s a lot of NIL seed moneyā€¦ and after reading thatā€¦ i would think that ESPN would want to let the ACC break upā€¦ but that is just me.

Thatā€™s hard to wrap my mind around. Over $1B a year for the playoffs.

1.3 billion a year for 11 games or roughly 120 million a game, 60 million per team.

So say thereā€™s 5 SEC teams, 4 B1G teams, 1 Big 12, 1 ACC and 1 G5. Top 4 conference champs get byes, so 1st round seeds 5-12 are 4 SEC, 3 B1G and the G5 team. Assume 2 SEC and 2 B1G advance.

Quarterfinals are say SEC-SEC, B1G-B1G, SEC-ACC, B1G-Big 12. Letā€™s be generous and say the ACC and Big 12 teams win along with an SEC and B1G.

Semifinals are SEC-Big 12, B1G-ACC. Assume SEC and B1G win.

Finals are SEC-B1G.

So if you calculate units like they do for the NCAA tournament, the SEC has 9, B1G has 8, ACC has 2, Big 12 has 2 and G5 has 1.

So the payout would be something like SEC 540 million, B1G 480 million, ACC 120 million, Big 12 120 mil and G5 60 mil.

Per team, SEC is 540/16=34 mil, B1G 480/18=27 mil, ACC/Big 12 120/18=7 mil.

Maybe in a really good year when the ACC has 2 teams, we could get 3 or maybe even 4 or dream an impossible dream 5 units. Even in a miracle year where the ACC gets 6 units, thatā€™s only 21 mil per school. Still below the P2.

This is on top of the already existing disparity in the current regular season TV contracts. So yeah, the ACC/Big 12 are screwed.

So the five ā€œmajorā€ conference winners, plus the the seven best BIG/SEC teams will be in the playoffs. Got it.
