Pretends To Be Shocked Fake Shock GIF by AIDES

While it’s a bit too early to say for certain, I am unsure of UVa’s current attraction for elite front court players. Saunders has another year of eligibility after this, Buchanan has two, and Cofie and Robinson each have at least three years. And, this doesn’t take into account how Power will be used in his last two seasons. While I don’t imagine that some of those the staff are pursuing are intimidated by competition, at the same time there isn’t a real clear path to early playing time, either. None of this takes into consideration that there might be premature attrition, either in the form of transfers or early entries into the draft, but would a 2025 prospect be counting on such? I would love to have Ament on the roster, but I don’t see any critical need to add anyone, either. If the staff can hold this roster together, though, 2026 could be another special year.

I mostly want Ament to break the seal on that caliber of prospect in the Bennett era. If we can take one and send him out top 5, I think (hope) that puts us on the list for more going forward.

But agreed, chances are pretty slim, and we don’t really need him.

Aristode to Arizona

Calling him an international player is accurate in a sense but a little weird when he’s been at Brewster and has been playing EYBL.

I am getting extremely annoyed by the narrative some pockets of the media are trying to create that Duke landing Cameron Boozer was some hard fought recruiting win for Scheyer. Brendan Marks is always a Duke/UNC cheerleader, but this seems more pervasive than the usual Tobacco Road media mafia. If getting a legacy kid named after the stadium you play in over a coach that may not be there when the player gets to campus was that much of a fight, Scheyer is in trouble!

On one hand, yeah, I hear you. On the other hand, not but a few days ago, including on this very site, the CW among informed college hoops folks was that Miami led.

I saw all of that as well as the oceanfront property in Arizona they were selling.

We know better than most what happens when it goes down to the wire with Duke in a high profile recruitment, I just never bought they were going anywhere but Durham.

Side note-- are we sure Miami’s NIL situation for basketball is even still that good? I had assumed it took a big hit with Ruiz’s legal troubles and Larranaga sort of floundering but everyone keeps talking like its really good.

Yeah, Miami’s NIL situation these days is a big unknown.

Guy who was on the radar (?) but didn’t fit the profile for the 2025 forward spot; I’ll be curious to see how he ends up developing, as I really like his feel for the game.

I saw this tweet, and it sums up college sports at the moment pretty well.

This is gonna sting for Mike Woodson. 2025 was a loaded class in Indiana, and he’s not getting any of the top guys. Mullins was the one IU was counting on.

Was gonna mention w/r/t that Richmond kid who coaches the Jazz. NBA pedigree doesn’t impress me much unless I know more. See Mike Woodson

For some reason I get a lot of Indiana fans on my twitter timeline and the schism within their fanbase about Mike Woodson is fascinating to me. I don’t get the pro-Woodson side at all, nothing he does impresses me very much at the collegiate level. He’s had one okay season and he’s done alright in the portal (mostly buoyed by NIL I think), but my understanding is they don’t have any shooters on that roster right now and its going to look like a team from 40 years ago.
