So…what are Payne and Co selling after that banner first year?
Was thinking the same. The sell and the visit must be incredible to keep attracting so many high level dudes, right?
I don’t expect people to understand, but this exactly what we need out of Louisville. Bags bags bags and more bags. I need them to be a super villain
Insiders are saying Chris Mack’s program was too clean
Straight adidas duffle bags of cash instead of this NIL bullshit
Maybe pulling out some of Pitino’s old tricks?
Ha. Thats the visits part yes
“Aside from a very healthy stipend, we’ll give you a year of all the PT you want to showcase for the NBA, without the burden of having to learn/play within an actual system”.
Or something like that.
Louisville had the most depressing season of just about any team in the country. Four lousy wins! (Only three teams in the country had fewer.) Their freshmen from this year are, wisely, all getting the hell out. So why are these other hotshots wanting to come in? Were the existing guys not getting the same bags as the new guys? Boggles my mind.
Have to secure the second bag by transferring out.
But seriously it is amazing after all the trouble Louisville got into the response was to hire an actual bag man as head coach.
I think bag 2 is a very real thing actually
Meh- we already have dook as a super villian. I can’t stand that L’ville is going to have another banner class, 1 week after going 4-28. This “work” should not be this easy. Its BS.
Oh yeah, wasn’t being facetious at all.
To be clear, I don’t have a problem with people getting paid what people are willing to pay them, it just gets sad because from the outside looking in it sure seems like the player doesn’t have much say a lot of the time.
Always been an ethical quandary for me. I had moral reservations about schools and coaches profiting off players but bags were against the rules, and I didn’t like the sleazy under the table nature of bags. So I didn’t want us breaking the rules, even though I sympathized with players that got paid.
I actually really like NIL. I don’t want sleazy under the table cash being offered to recruits, but if one of our guys works hard, is an upstanding representative of the University, and has options, we can legally make guys whole within the rules. If we choose to. Much better than the old way.
It made me really sad to see the lengths the big three had to go to in order to make a little after the title. Should never have been like that. I am a crusty old man in a lot of ways but not when it comes to NIL. Amateurism is for the privileged.
In the portal era, re-recruiting your players may be as important as pulling in new guys.
Holy crap. That’s at least the third post from Haney today that I’ve agreed with. One of us must have gotten really smart all of a sudden, or one of us must have gone senile.
