Roster-building (and life) is a game of managing tradeoffs. Seems like a reasonable one to make given how the last couple seasons have gone for Odom. A good defensive frontcourt makes up for many perimeter defense sins and weâll have a good one next season too.
Tugard must be in the chats somehow, lmao. I got blocked for no reason other than maybe liking a post talking smack on him. Sorry TU

⌠is trying to goose the shot blocking stats of his centers so he can recruit better centers.

Our defensive scheme
Uh. Are we not talking about our latest commitment?

Four-star center Favour Ibe commits to UVA!
How is roster construction looking right now?
combo guard would be really nice. experienced backup 4/5.
Almost complete.
Two needs left, I think.
- Want a combo guard, who can back up Chance at the 1 while also sharing minutes with Dixon at the 2.
- Would also like an experienced, though maybe value option, forward/center to take some pressure off Ibe as the backup 5 in case Ibe isnât Day 1 ready.
No idea who would fit for either based on whoâs available either domestically or internationally.
Otherwise thatâs it I think. Let the guys compete, assume at least one, maybe two, of EG/MC/SB were brought back because theyâre ready to break out in a rotational capacity.
I think the staff is assuming 5 in 5 gets passed and Harmon + Lewis have multiple years remaining.
Still waiting for our starting 2.
I think Jurian Dixon is penciled in as the starting 2
EDIT - I think X is the main guy off the bench and will push Dixon for equal minutes at the 2

As of today he is. Lets wait til the end of the month before putting anyone down in pen. I
I really donât think any of the 3 non rotation wings from 2026 at UVA are penciled in - true training camp competition for that the last starting spot
Weâre going to be saying this right up until our first game tips off lol
Without knowing specifically how the staff intends to use either Harmon or Dixon, I suspect roster construction remains a big question mark. At this time, as far as we are concerned, roles are undefined. We can speculate, but that is about it. I think it is safe to say that the front line is a settled issue: Ibe behind GrĂźnloh and Barksdale behind de Ridder appear certain. (And, while his skill sets are quite different than Tillisâ, I suspect that Barksdale might be better suited for the role of power forward.) I really have no idea of what we should expect from Carrere. I donât think his minutes in âmop upâ time provide too many useful insights. He may be in the rotation or he may not, and much of that may hinge on what Harmon can contribute and his role on the team. I am unsure of any remaining critical needs, but I wouldnât complain if a tall, experienced PG with shooting range were to find his way onto the roster.
