šŸ€ PORTAL SEASON (UVa Offseason) 2026

He was literally in the portal last year. He may ultimately stay, but you’re naive if you think he’s just gonna stay because he’s the ā€œmayor of Utahā€ or whatever they call him.

Yea I can’t imagine Diane taking a backup role.

Current scholarship chart (excluding Lang, Roberts, Odom). Five spots open before any transfers out.

Was Falslev actually in the portal? I don’t think he ever entered

I don’t think we should give up bc he’ll stay necessarily, more so I don’t think he’s our best option

He wasn’t in the portal in 2025. He did enter in 2024, but withdrew pretty quickly.

Really? He’s the 16th recruit in the country. After about the 12th ranked guy, it doesn’t seem like you’re a lock freshman starter.

I would think Ugo’s 18mpg and contributions this year are fairly compelling, but I guess the Cenac role and minutes with him leaving are a better deal. And playing beside Tugler is probably pretty nice too. Cenac was the 6th rated recruit though.

That’s a weird assessment. Would you rather start and play 10 minutes a game or play 25 a game off the bench? See what I mean? It just seems kind of presumptuous to claim someone you’ve likely never spoken to would leave if he’s playing 24 minutes a game off the bench instead of playing 27 minutes a game as a starter, especially when that kid has bled orange and blue his whole life. I coached him at the Tony Bennett summer camp when he was like 9 years old. He loves UVA.

A lot of 2PG-haters here…would just throw out for your consideration: How many times did you see the half-court offense bog down because it was super obvious who was going to run a ball screen or because the ballhandler completely missed an opportunity to hit the screener rolling to the basket?

I’m imagining Mario Saint-Supery or Sergio De Larrea as a 2nd PG with more off-ball value than what Dallin was able to provide, but similar passing abilities.

Was gonna say earlier, but convo moved on…

I think best lineup offensively, to add to those 4, would be a guy with PG skills

But I suppose most read it as, what the next biggest priority? Which is a little different…

It kinda comes down to what do you think Chance and Sam can replace more of? Dallin’s playmaking or Malik’s scoring?

A guy who could do a little of both would probably be ideal.

That’s fair. And as others have noted he technically didn’t enter again last year but he didn’t confirm he was returning until after the Final Four.

I recall seeing somewhere that he was interested last portal, but had some issues with transferring credits or something. Could be misremembering.

Also reminder that at some point this offseason we will freak out about admissions.

Man that is so dismissive of Kihei. He gets alot of flack because of his shortcomings (and yes one unfortunate decision), but he played defense, was a good passer and hustled. So far the only difference between him and Chance is that Chance can shoot it a *bit better (though his percentages dropped towards the end of this season).

Just like Chance- Kihei made big plays with a GREAT supporting cast around him.

Ohhh that may be a good call- I would ALSO put Dallin Hall on staff in order to begin grooming that next group of ā€œUva inspired coachesā€. Though Dallin may want to go play professionally- still would like him on staff.

Kihei was great, but it’s just a fact that he was limited physically in way likely Chance won’t be.

Both are the types of players opposing PGs hate. Chance is the type of player even a big hates getting switched onto bc he’s so strong and has a low center of gravity. I say this as a former collegiate big who played against plenty of Kiheis and Chances.

Chance’s strength and physicality will also make him a much better scorer than Kihei. He’s already doing things in the lane Kihei never could. He has a lower IQ than Kihei right now, but that could absolutely come with time and coaching. It’s not disparaging one player to say the other has a higher ceiling. I still love and respect the he’ll out of Kihei for 2019 and his leadership beyond.

Did Bamgboye feel slighted by not getting invited to join Odom after last season? What about some of those other VCU players?…

I would hope that Mario or Sergio have Dallins competiveness and rebounding ability as well- as those are part of what made Dallin such an asset on our team. Are they tall?Long?

Okay it sounded like you’re saying that Kihei clark is vastly outclassed by Chance and I’m not sure yet. Sure Chance has potential so we will see…

KJ Lewis in the portal. Assume we will be an early contact.
