šŸ€ PORTAL SEASON (UVa Offseason) 2026

Still need someone to sell on him as our 2. Can he guard ACC 2s? Create his own shot off the bounce?

Still feels like we’re a solid 3rd on Flaslev’s list if he leaves. I’m not getting my hopes up

Behind who? The BYU insider said Cinncy or UVA with BYU as a maybe. Would think we’d be a bigger draw in every regard unless he really wants to keep playing for Calhoun.

ā€œDo I wanna stay in my home state and get a fuckton of Crumbl Cookie money? Do I wanna follow my head coach? Or do I wanna come to the east coast where I have no connection besides a guy who recruited me more than three years ago?ā€

I’m not sure about BYU only being a ā€œmaybeā€, or even about us being tied with UC. Just tempering expectations.

He did spend a redshirt season with Odom before Odom left for VCU. Originally recruited by Craig Smith maybe (pre-mission)? He’s had a lot of coaches lol.

I really have no idea what Falslev wants, but his previous behavior suggests he may not want to leave the state

And then if he does decide to leave the state, we have to compete with Cincy

And then, assuming we do get him, we get to answer the difficult ā€œis he good at the ACC level?ā€ Question

Originally recruited by Tim Duryea before he committed to Utah, then recruited by and committed to Craig Smith, then coached by Odom, Sprinkle and Calhoun.

No guarantees, but his top-100 and top-50 games look pretty similar to his overall body of work.

I can shed a little extra light here as a BYU grad who is a childhood UVA fan.

BYU would love to have him but if they get Collin Chandler (trending that way), there isn’t really a spot for Falslev. They’d have a starting 1-3 of Rob Wright, Collin Chandler, and Bruce Branch(5th best freshman in the class). I mean BYU would still take the MW player of the year but it just wouldn’t seem like a fit.

Odom got Falslev to flip from Utah to Utah State during his mission. Mason signed with Utah in 2019 then went on his mission to Brazil. Krystkowiak was fired in March 2021, Craig Smith left Utah State to coach Utah, and Odom was hired to replace Smith shortly thereafter. Falslev flipped in November 2021 as Odom was starting his first season as Utah State coach.

If Falslev really wanted to play for Smith, he would’ve just stayed signed with Utah. It was Odom that got him to ultimately flip (among other factors including some Utah players leaving after Krystkowiak was fired).

Let’s hope it wasn’t Griff taking all those calls!

We haven’t done shit in the portal this off season. We’re doomed for sure.

You’re right. I had the timing of the decommit and commit wrong. Maybe he just didn’t like Smith for some reason.

Bangot Dak looks like the most Odom center on the market.

I don’t trust anyone named Dak to thrive in postseason

Probably looking for a starting spot. Probably back at Nebraska?

Jaland Lowe - can we fix him? Literally can we fix his shoulder cause if so would love to have him as a backcourt mate for Chance. Would be true NBA level talent joining the roster. Would probably be expensive but worth taking a swing at I think or at least seeing if there’s interest.

Wasn’t really a fan of Jaland at Pitt, shooting hasn’t been there and he takes a lot of hard shots. Maybe Odom could shape that shot chart to look better, but a career 42% from 2, 29% from 3 guy is a tough one for me to get on-board with.

No….

Lots of talent but injury concerns, bad shot diet, bad shooter. I see the vision as a back court mate with Chance, but I think our aspirations as a team should be quite high this year, and I don’t want to gamble it on fixing him. Didn’t work out great for Kentucky.

Also think he’s Houston bound from what someone on this board said at one point from the Trilly discord? That’s a homecoming spot for him, and he does seem like a good Flemings replacement.
