Difference is in corporate world⦠if nothing changes the company goes away. In NCAA basketball⦠it just keeps plodding on, and on, and onā¦
With this structure, it really sucks for fan bases of schools like this, you just roll the dice every year and hope these coaches strike gold like Capel did a few years ago, but most likely you sniff the tournament about once every several years at best. Thankful we have Odom who seems to know how to navigate this well and is a good coach/person to boot and seems committed to be here long term.
Think we have any chance here?

Why we need him? If TDR resigns
Id add Louisville. They only have two players ācoming backā (one of them is Wooley who trilly hinted is portaling LOL).
Complete rebuild again.
Putting my delusional hat on (even though Iām sure heās looking to start), he comes off the bench as a sixth/seventh man while he works on refining his jumper and defense
Bill Walsh had a mantra, I recall, that itās always better to cut/trade a guy a year too soon than a year too late. Goes for coaches too. Guys like Forbes, Shrews, Capel⦠Like, what are those schools thinking?
Bill Walsh mightāve had that philosophy too, but the attribution of that quote usually goes to Branch Rickey, GM of the Brooklyn Dodgers who brought Jackie Robinson to the majors.
Good catch. I think I attribute that to Walsh because he used to explain the Niners moving on from Montana to Steve Young while Montana still had juice in the tank (as evidenced by him then taking the Chiefs to the playoffs). Believe that was when Walsh was in his front office role, but that was also almost 40 years ago.
No idea if we have a chance / what he wants (money and/or situation wise) and/or what we can offer, but heād be great for Odomās system I think.
Iād be curious to know why heās leaving Kansas.
(Please for the love of god, donāt say āmoneyā)
Tennessee is going after Tiller. His dad played at ETSU. JP Estrella, early buzz is Indiana
Random thought I just heard from someone: Is TDR going to be the ACC preseason player of the year? Only returner from 1st team
Is okorie going pro?
Almost certainly going to be someone that Duke or UNC brings in.
Indiana is below mid. Donāt get that one. Guessing they are way overpaying.
Rough scene for Rick Barnes losing everyone after an elite 8 run. Seems like a good time to retire (Estrella to Indiana Boswell to NC State)
What are the odds we land all 50+ players posted in this thread so far? Pretty good chance to be preseason top 10 if we do.
The bench mob would overflow into the student section.
Okorie would a be freaking grand slam. Ill even admit he is a bigger land than Juke Harris would be and I love Harris.
