With (hopefully) Lewis, TDR, and JG holding down the 3-5, we may be able to get away with a smaller dude at the 2. Wouldn’t go smaller than THJ though. If we can disincentivize offenses testing us inside with our size, we’re gonna need some quick athletic dudes to hound ball handlers on the perimeter and make everything difficult and frustrating. THJ can absolutely do that with Chance. Lewis was a great on ball defender down the stretch too.
That potential starting 5 is really exciting. It’s easy to get big eyes and want every big name transfer but we have 4 great birds in our hands. We don’t need much more.

We dont need much more BUT we need AT least 4 quality transfers. You need a backup 5 that can play at least 15 quality minutes. You have to have a starting 2. Now that starting 2 depends on how what you need elsewhere. If it is a Hill type guy that has and can run PG then you do not need a backup PG. If they are simply a scoring 2 then you need a backup PG that will play 20mpg (hard to sell less than that). We will need at least 2 bench guys that can play heavy minutes at guard/wing to go with the starting 2 and backup 5. That would also mean Odom and staff thinks someone can be that Tillis type 4 or maybe someone that can be a hybrid of a 3/4 or 4/5??? Barksdale? Carrere?

This team BADLY needs a go-to, alpha scoring 2.
Malik Thomas underwhelming in the role held us back considerably. Gotta get it right this time.
Also need to adequately replace Jacari’s shooting and Ugo’s frontcourt energy and lift off the bench.
Need some bonafide NBA talent.
I’m invested in Cloer as a dynamic, next-level scorer coming off the bench.

If you go down the list of teams in order of EvanMiya’s rankings, I think we are the highest-ranked team to return its top-two players (by EvanMiya BPR), if you make some conservative assumptions that everyone with a solid first-round grade is gone. If you add together the BPR of the top two possible returners from each team, Illinois has us beat by a little bit with the Z. Ivisic-Mirkovic combo (not sure if they’ve confirmed returning yet) and Iowa St would get close with the Momcilovic-Buchanan combo.
