I wonder whether CRO is waiting to lock up a few more folks and then doing a big bang announcement all at once. There could be value in not dripping out commits so that we don’t scare off other potential adds… I’m just spitballing though I know nothing

I’ve found that getting someone to put ink on paper was always the most annoying and labor intensive part sometimes in a sale for the most asinine reasons.
Here’s to hoping someone just got locked out of their Docusign account or someone vital to the whole legal operation decided to take a couple personal days.

Saw some chatter yesterday on the importance of a backup center. To the extent we are money constrained (and everyone is to a certain extent), I’m fine with having JAG at backup center.
I think Ugo was very key to our success last year, but all in all, I feel more comfortable with having big dollars going to a guard. Felt like that was more of our limiting factor last year (see Tennessee: more or less a wash in the frontcourt; they had a better backcourt)

Constanza is a major mismatch problem on the perimeter because of his combination of size, length (7-foot-1 wingspan), strength, playmaking ability, and shooting touch.
And
Simultaneously, he has a nonchalant style and needs to be more consistent with his motor, body language, and defensive intensity, particularly off the ball. He also needs to value the ball more (4.2 turnovers), commit to sculpting his frame, and then prove he can maximize his efficiency in more defined, translatable roles.
Also has high potential for a very funny Jacarmy-style costumed student fan group

I don’t disagree in theory that I’d rather throw our money at a lead guard, but I think there is value, especially in our defensive system, to a solid backup center. If we are going to rely on rim protection to put a bandaid on poor perimeter defenders, we need a competent rim protector back there all the time. Plus Grünloh isn’t the cleanest on fouls, so I expect a few games where we’ll need heavy backup C minutes.
My ideal scenario would be one defensive minded backup that can play the 4 and 5 alongside Thijs or Johann both.

Is Fiegen actually our target for the starting 2 spot? I had thought backup, but I am beginning to think Odom wants him to start. We’ve heard nothing regarding other shooting guards, and I believe the other schools on his list are offering starter minutes. Pretty disappointing, if so. And if he is, we may lose that one too.
I hope I am just inventing things in my mind because I am bored and a little discouraged.
Ahh…. Their backcourt played better that particular day. I think Hoos are better.
