McNeil back to NC State as well. UVA is going to end up with a worse roster next year despite retaining all four rotational pieces.

They can all improve but if Gertrude is your starting 2 it wont really matter along with Carrere your best piece off the bench. I dont expect them to completely whiff like above but we are 2 weeks in with nothing to show for it yet. It may have to be an all euro haul. The portal is well over half committed.

You can end up with a worst roster if 4 of your 9 rotation players take a jump (our returners from the rotation) and the other 5 are worse. That is totally reasonableā¦.and the current state of affairs.
I think we will improve from there. But cāmon. You canāt run out a team of 4 players you have confidence in and a bunch of uncertains vs a team last year that won on depth.

Iām assuming weāll get at least 2-3 new guys coming in.
Youāre right, if this is the roster weāre taking into next season, it may be worse. And even if we bring more guys in, we may be worse at the beginning of next season than we were at the end of last season.
But apples to apples, if we bring in a 2 thatās better than Gertrude and a backup C. Those 2 plus the 4 returning starters plus the 3 returning bench guys are a better 9 man rotation at the start of the season than our top 9 at the beginning of last season.
Bringing in a 2 better than Gertrude is a really low bar. If we cant do that we ought to quit playing the game. The idea should be to bring in a 2 that is better than Malik Thomas and a guy off the bench that is similar in basketball talent as Jacari. We should be looking for a 5 that is as good as Ugo. Maybe, he isnt elite at rim protecting but he is good at it and trades the elite rim protection for being more physical and a better low post scorer. Feel like those should be among the goals.

In other news. Duke gets Top player left. Whatever.
The question is whether heās afraid to jinx because itās good or afraid for the team because itās underwhelming. Also whether it has any truth whatsoever to it
