I think the guy who comes in here and has to put together a roster from scratch and winds up winning 30 games deserves a little benefit of the doubt. I’m willing to wait not only until the roster is complete but until we start playing games to make any sort of judgment.

Good opportunity for me to advocate again for a new federal holiday: Feb 15, The Perfect Posting Day. We have lots of data on which to base our conclusions, but not the type of bad data we get from single elimination tourneys, and especially from losing second round games, which has no value at all.

I wonder if there is any Turner steering kids to Odom given the history and relationships between them. Or if it’s just a mere coincidence.

I think that was explicitly the case for Tillis, in both directions (Turner encouraged Tillis to consider UVa and also sold Odom on Tillis). We’ll see if that’s the case for Dixon. Imagine it has to be a little bit awkward to repeatedly lose transfers to your buddy, but maybe once they’re out the door, you’d prefer them to go to someone you trust and like.

I think these lower major coaches understand their lot in life. All their players want to move up if they get good. I assume Turner wants a better job someday too.

He’s got a good thing going at Irvine. I wouldn’t want to leave if I were him, short of a power conference type job which would pay more but be more of a headache.

This one is a little different, don’t think Tillis really considered anyone else. Dixon visited Ole Miss and TX was recruiting him pretty hard. This was more of a real recruitment on the players side

Very good pickup. I see him as a good rotational piece off the bench playing heavy minutes. I hope we have someone just as good for that 2 spot.

Good body control but I didn’t see a +athlete which this roster kinda lacks, other than Gertrude.

Lewis fits the bill imo. Not as explosive as other guys but a great balance of explosiveness and strength. He had a handful of drives and finishes that shocked me last year. Mallory and TDR are also both insanely strong for their positions, which counts for something. Agree we could use another Jacari type with a high percentile vertical.
