You guys think Reece will break Lebrons record?
I think the question is more “how many years will it take?”
Reece looked like the Reece at the beginning of the year tonight…We can all take a breath…
Reece has the ability to make any guard in the country look bad or the really good ones look normal. But Smith didn’t look anywhere close to a first round pick. His game looked really shaky and didn’t see him as even a challenge for Reece. With Love at UNC and the kid at baylor it was more of great players being held by a great defender but you could still see they were very skilled players. I didn’t see the same level of player in Smith. If he is a first round nba talent, Reece has a much better chance of being selected in the first round than i previously thought.
With this Reece we are a final 4 contender …
Smith is considered a first rounder and Reece showed why he is moving up draft boards … completely shut him down …
We are still talking about the guy who led all scorers last night and finished ahead of his season average, right? I mean, Reece was effective and Smith was inefficient, but if 19 points at our game pace was Smith being shut down, I wonder what him going off would look like.
How many of those points were with Reece guarding him and regardless, he scored 19 points on 20 shots. I’ll take that any day
Yeah, me too since we won and didn’t allow him to go off. But his season average FG% is 38% and 7-20 is right about that. I’m happy with how we handled him, but shut him down doesn’t seem accurate. Joiner got shut down.
Field goal percentage is deceptive for 3-point shooters, so I’ll augment the post by noting that Smith’s season Effective Field Goal percentage is 46.8%.
Last night his Effective Field Goal percentage was 42.5%.
Also, his overall free throw rate is approximately 30% and last night it was 20%.
It turned out not to mean much, but can anyone explain why Reece didn’t get the foul call on his breakaway dunk? NC State dude swiped down and mauled him across the face. Is it just that Jamie Luckie is so fat and slow that he couldn’t get himself in proper position to see it?
I wondered about that as well. It was obvious from the replay he was hammered. Guessing you’re right about Luckie trailing the play and just missed it.
Yep that pos Luckie was out of position by a long shot
That needs to be sent to the board of officials and played on a loop for hours so they are reminded how poor that dude is
Go back and watch the tape again if you like … how many of his 19 were scored against Reece? I think it was either 5 or 7.
Luckie ain’t good … but there was no foul on that one … Reece simply jumped too high.
Sorry - I was referring to the missed dunk at the end … reading comprehension bad …
Absolute foul on that one…
We have video of the missed one?
