I’m actually surprised that so many people think there’s a chance that Reece could come back.
Seemed like in the know people put it at 60/40 pre combine. Possibly combine shifted that a bit? 70/30 feels right post-combine in terms of odds.
THIS. His mind has shifted. Just like when you decide to leave your old job - the counter offer doesn’t change your mind many times.
Exactly and a lot of experts will tell you not to take the counter because of the mind shift that’s taken place.
You think G league guys are flying first class around the country …
It sounds like Reece’s floor is a 2-way contract. Pulling from other threads, 2-way players spend a lot of time with the NBA team, and then join the G-League team for games. It’s probably not as glamorous and certainly not as lucrative as a full-time NBA contract, but you get access to a lot of the NBA-level resources and don’t have to deal with all of the NCAA restrictions on practice time, etc.
So to me, unless Reece really values a degree or really wants to give the tourney another shot, even the worst case scenario (a 2-way contract) affords him better development opportunities than another year of college.
- Should Fresh text Reece!!

Should Fresh text Blue?
Yes!
He went to the G League combine and was one of the handful that was invited to stay for the NBA days too.
Or Reece could have experienced what he has the last 5 weeks as a grind and travel and tiredness and interviews as an adult burden he’s not yet ready to bear.
Or maybe he is. Once one leaves college the real world smacks you in the face and doesn’t apologize.
He didn’t do the 2019 combine, just g-league. He’s not in any of the results (no shooting, no measurements, nada). He did participate in the odd 2020 “zoom” combine.

No Reece
Yeah, people phrase it like that, and the NBA is certainly far better, but those bus trips actually are pretty cool compared to what you get in the G League.
Strange to bus. We flew everywhere but Maryland and Richmond and VaTech
Yeah I mean Hauser played in Portland Maine for a year in an arena far worse than JPJ. The Heat g league team is in Sioux Falls. Have to appreciate CVille while you can
Fort Wayne IN, Greensboro NC, the awful locations of g league teams goes on and on (not that Maine is awful at all but not quite the bright lights you imagine for the nba)
I’m curious if the experience for a two-way player is different, even if they are primarily playing G-League games. LRA podcast episode on the two-way experience?
We used to be pretty close to the UVA men’s tennis team where going pro was alluring for some of the kids. But it was funny, because some of the guys most enamored of it were the least prepared. One guy nearly went pro after his freshman year and only grudging came back when it was pointed out that he didn’t know how to do his own laundry yet (along with a bunch of other adult-stuff) and maybe he should get that squared away first.
LOL. This reminds of a story where I found this woman in New Dorms washing her daughter’s laundry. IMAGINE!!!
I thought Blue committed to Georgia
