This is horrible news. Phony/Chris was such a good dude. Praying for his family.
Just logged in for the first time today and saw this thread title and I froze as I felt my heart sink. Let out an audible “oh no” and my girlfriend asked what’s wrong.
Rest in peace
He was truly a good man and I will surely miss him.
We are bringing back his tee shirt for those that don’t remember. The video below. This time all the funds will go to a 529 in his daughters names. Ella will be attending VCU this fall.
In a time where everything gets turned into a fight, he always found a way to give everyone a laugh and remember how much it is to be a fan. A shame he’s gone too soon.
So sorry to hear this. I hope the family can find peace and comfort.
Oh wow I’m blown away… I’m just shocked.
Ugh, just absolutely gut wrenching news. Just an all around awesome guy
Rest in peace Phony - he was the epitome of why it’s fun to be a UVA fan
Such tragic news. May he live forever in the wonderful memories of his family, friends, and Wahoos everywhere. He seemed like an amazing guy, and I will miss his presence. Condolences and prayers for his family.
Gutted. Thinking of his family. Does LRA have anything lined up?
Rest in Peace Chris aka Phony, a true Wahoo fan in every sense of the word.
Miss him already, RIP Chris.
Awful news. Really liked that dude.
If I’m understanding @Merch correctly, all revenue (not just profits?) for these t-shirts going to the daughters’ 529. Very sad to hear all this.
At my companies annual conference and sat down to take a break. Gonna have to get it together for a couple of client meetings later. Loved getting to meet Phony And talk life and Basketball.… he will be missed tremendously.
Truly enjoyed reading and listening to him. A loss for UVA sports fandom for sure. Thinking of him and his family. Thanks Chris for making a positive impact on this community.
This sucks so baaad…
How do we make this a reality in honor of Phony?
Just one home game next season is all we’d even need (we’d all want more, of course).
They could sell the unis in whole or break out the shorts and jerseys to raise money for cancer research. They could set up a dollar goal with a pediatric cancer foundation or the V Foundation that we’d need to hit to get them worn. I’d wager that number would get crushed.
Who really says no (Nike, maybe, because Nike is gonna Nike)?
