I’m still in the Dunn is the best case for us. He’s not going to improve offensively imo even w another year. Of course we’ll miss his D but hopefully his draft status from where he started will benefit the program for years to come, starting in the portal this spring.
Nossir. I had sent the picture before you made your observation. Someone asked what I saw correctable in Dunns FT
My findings via google were shocking to say the least
How do we think Dunn did against Hinson? I realize Hinson got plenty from our other defenders but Dunn was isolated several times and Hinson cooked anyway it seemed. Is Hinson an NBA quality player?
I thought the way that Hinson cooked him can’t be good for his draft stock. Wouldn’t be surprised if see more mocks coking that put him more towards the end of the 1st round and they’ll reference this game, coupled with he’s just absolutely no threat to score at all.
All I saw was Hinson totally unaffected by Dunn and all that length
But Hinson seems to be living his best Life in his last hurrah. Dude is on tour it seems ha
At one point GG was a top 5 prospect in his class before he reclassed.
If he didn’t reclassify and he was doing this as a freshman at UNC, he’d go #1.
But, now he’ll be eligible for his second contract a year earlier so whatever he lost out on by being a second rounder in 2023 vs a top 5 pick in 2024, he’ll easily make up in that year advancement. Plus, who’s to say that he would’ve developed like this at UNC vs playing full time with the Griz/GLeague? He’s playing 3 times as many games as he would in college.
Pretty sure it was the other way around. First Union did buy Wachovia, but adopted the Wachovia name after the merger.
You’re probably thinking about when First Union bought CoreStates bank and changed the name from the CoreStates Center to the First Union Center. Then it became the Wachovia Center after that merger. Then it became the Wells Fargo Center after Wells bought Wachovia.
In the limited minutes I saw, Hinson looked like the 1st rd. draft pick in that game. He was really good.
Yea. He was making NBA type players shots for sure
C’mon. Like its even close. If you ask us.
Yeah. I mean, on the one hand it obviously isn’t great. On the other hand, Hinson is someone who just does that every so often. When Pitt beat Duke, Hinson went 7/7 from 3. Against WV he went 9/15 and against Clemson he went 6/10. And he’s hitting 50+% of his 2s on top of that. He’s an efficient, high-utilization player and when he’s having a good game he just smokes people.
The fact that the rest of Pitt, only 1 of whom hits even 35% from 3, combined to go 9/19 was probably a bigger factor in the loss than Hinson. The non-Hinson folks also went 6/20 from 2, which is kind of wild.
When Pitt’s slender man hit the 3 I knew it was over.
edit: wrong thread but it’s a good joke in the flow of conversation so I’m leaving it, you can’t make me take it down
Weirdly, he’s their 2nd best 3 point shooter after Hinson.
Edit - Hinson, and Slenderman, are good-to-very-good 3 point shooters, but not spectacular. And the rest of the team is pretty mediocre at it. They were just on fire.
Wanna bet? Haahha kidding
We thought HGN and his henchman Jazz were the message board overseers, but it was Fresh all along.
Fresh pulling all the strings
If @DFresh11 was pulling all the strings… the forum might explode with all the admin mistakes. Haha!
Yes…almost 30 years ago from the sabre days Jules Camara story didn’t end well. He’s really struggled the last decade. Ran into Will Avery in Durham at Panera a couple of months ago. He was on that oak hill team as well. Hadn’t seen him in over 25 years. Another top ranked kid uva finished second behind duke or unc.
One game isn’t going to cause his draft status to fall. If he finishes the season with 29 great defensive performances, 5 average ones, and the Hinson game the Hinson game will be viewed no differently than when a top scorer has a 5 point night.
Now his offense going from minimal to non-existent recently is a different story. But the Hinson performance by itself won’t hurt his draft stock
His usage** has plummeted recently. It started low-ish, ramped up to 20+, and now he’s back to mostly doing not very much. Haven’t been following recently with my usual OCD attention so I can’t really provide much analysis beyond just noticing the trend. Other than to say: for a while, we seemed to prioritize his involvement, and recently we haven’t.
(You can see the trend in the 5-game moving average, which is the dotted line)
** basically, usage is a measure of how many possessions you “finish”, either by shooting or getting fouled or turning it over
