2 game tournament aren’t tournaments, imo.

It’s technically an MTE. I would like a trophy though :man_shrugging:

You know, looking closer at the tournament announcement, the 2025 announcement was:

Butler, Northwestern, South Carolina and Virginia will each play two games in the event, which will be staged in Colonial Hall inside the Greenbrier Resort and air live on CBS Sports Network. Matchups for both days of the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

While the 2024 announcement was:

The LSU Tigers will join Wisconsin, Pitt and UCF at the inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off. The event is set for Nov. 22-24 at The Greenbrier Resort, which is located in the picturesque foothills of the Allegheny Mountains.

The four teams will participate as part of the Tip-Off’s Mountain Division in a two-game bracketed tournament. Official matchups, game times and television details will be announced at a later date.

So I think there was a hint (that I totally missed) that the tournament structure was changing by using “matchups for both days” and leaving out the “bracketed” description. Perhaps they knew already the Butler-NW non-con matchup was happening and just rolled with it.

I’m just glad those young men and women aspired for more than learning to shoot paper clips at each other

On the bright side, we miss South Carolina which has decent odds to end up as a Q3.

Think NW and Butler are likely to be Q2s when all is said and done, but potential for one of those teams to swing into a Q1.

Format is dumb, but at least we avoided South Carolina. And it’s close so I’ll probably get to attend.

Navy has best bases without a doubt. Air Force the worst. Got to weigh against being on a ship. Unless JAG who generally will only be assigned to a carrier. Otherwise in home port mostly enjoying great locations. Air Force great for fun if a pilot even if cargo plane as easy civilian transition. But oh, so many poor locations. But congrats to the family member.

I was assigned to a carrier for 2-weeks. I got hardship pay for hanging out w/ you all. LOL! I’d say if you think the Air Force bases are the worst… you’ve never been on an Army or Marine base before. Air Force and Navy bases are both pretty nice in my opinion… except Fallon, NV for the Navy… why the heck did that make sense?

The Navy bases are mostly in nice locations because they’re close to the water and generally in warm locales. Air Force bases have comparatively good QoL (facilities, amenities, etc) but admittedly can be in some Flyover Country backwaters that won’t appeal to a lot of folks. Agree I’d take either over an Army or Marine base.

I’m an engineer, and my SeaBee countparts almost never go on boats, then in turn get to live on the California and Gulf coasts. In retrospect I could’ve been talked into that.

My mother in law is in the Army Reserve and in one of her deployments she was assigned to an Air Force base. Ramstein I think. She still talks about how nice the facilities and comforts were. Way nicer than the Army bases she’s been on.
