I like him a lot but don’t see him getting to the basket like Malc could
I was watching for highlights, not terribly in depth. Thought he had some nice moments against Purdue. He struggled in that Houston game to get his offense going but I think that’s to be expected. Got a bit swallowed up
He can obv shoot, I also thought he’s pretty good getting to his spots. Seemed like a solid defender, the little I watched. They gave him the assignment on Braden Smith, which seemed like a vote of confidence. Mixed it up a bit with Emanuel Sharp! Which seemed like a good sign
Also, in addition to the one I called out above, he had a couple nice coast to coast takes. Hope that fits in well with Odom’s offense (see @Cuts_from_The_Corner breakdown of early offense)
Yeah I mean he’s not Malcolm. He just does some things similarly. Ball dominant wing (but also an active cutter when he doesn’t have the ball).
I thought the same thing when I saw him, but didn’t want to put too much on him….but it’s a lot of Brog in his game
Ah man. Translation ho hum kinda guy
He can get buckets, but not as exciting as say Jacari White … hopefully
Watching this Toledo Houston game and just ended up falling in love with Arceneaux…
That was literally the best game he played all year haha

Heh, thought the same. Hope @Jerome is right.
Would be great if Odom can show NBA development / progression. Arc would’ve been the perfect candidate. Maybe the German kid is another. Long shot, but maybe Gertrude in a couple years.
This guy has all the potential in the world - but he’s such a sleepy/passive player sometimes.
Odom’s assignment with Lewis is going to be the mental element of the game re: staying aggressive on both ends and always playing hard; especially defensively.
If he can get him to flip that switch - it’s gonna be a very underrated pick up

Can someone translate?
@Cuts_from_The_Corner write-up piece on transfer Sam Lewis will be out soon
Ahh. Thx
It’s going to be tomorrow morning - but probably first thing like 8am ish.
Looking forward to it. Main things I’m curious about:
- What does his offensive role look like here: I think people sometimes label him catch-and-shoot specialist because he’s good at it, but he took less 3s per 100 possession than Saunders did last season. He takes a lot of 2s.
- What can he be defensively: He mostly defended 4s next to a very undersized 5 in catastrophically small lineups. Maybe he’s better because he’ll be in (assumedly) a better defensive ecosystem, but it’s not a sure thing for me.
Spoilers - he’s actually not as confident in his outside shot as he should be. He is really good in transition. He settles for too many midrange jumpers but he’s not bad at it. He’s not great at beating his man stable off the bounce, but is pretty decent at one move slashing drives.
He didn’t actually defend the 4 that much - normally Isaiah Adams would - and they would sometimes even move him on to the opposing team’s primary guards when they were going off (Uzan, Braden Smith, etc).
He was an okay on ball defender in many ways (and teams didn’t really test him that much), and a pretty terrible off ball defender. He just loses concentration and plays without effort on that end too often.
Tons of upside and ability, though. Will need coaching, especially on the defensive end. Good thing he’ll probably be coming off the bench but could be a high impact bench player given the right circumstances.
Lewis is fascinating to me because at least in my eyes he could be anything from a perimeter shooting option off the bench to our best scorer and I wouldn’t be overly surprised. There’s clearly a LOT of talent and I’m very excited by the idea of having him for two seasons instead of one.
