Way back when I signed up for this place because there was a monthly contest to pick games against the spread. I’m not willing to put the work in to run a contest or keep track of any info, but I thought it might be fun to throw around some games from around the country that I see as good bets. I’m not promising I will continue to do this, but I had some time this morning. Here goes nothing!
UVA (-11), I know the recent history of UVA against the spread, don’t care I’m a homer…
Providence (-7.5) vs. St. John’s
UConn (-6.5) vs. Creighton
Oklahoma St. (+3.5) vs. Texas
Wisconsin (+7) at Illinois
Off the radar games
Grand Canyon (+3) at Stephen F. Austin
Denver (+4) at Western Illinois
I would love to get your handicap for this game. There are so many college basketball games, especially on Saturdays, that I think a good gambler can find great bets in these small conference games. This is doubly true during football season when most people are focused on those games. Bookmakers don’t put out many bad lines, but these type of games are usually the ones if they do.
Mostly a shot in the dark, but Denver has played the toughest Summit League schedule so far and Western Illinois has not, and 4 just seemed like a lot. Based on the current trends of my other picks, I’d put heavy money on Western Illinois -4 right now!
