I knew at the time that 95 and 98 were my glory days at the time since I was 18 and 21 at the time. It was no mystery! Ha ha!
Good question. School year makes sense, although as I get older calendar years get easier to remember.

Calendar year has to be 2019. 200th anniversary of the founding of the school. MBB national championship. Football went to the ACCCG and the Orange Bowl (which was held in 2019).
Maybe there’s some year where the football and basketball teams were both above average and we won multiple nattys in other sports that could top that, but I can’t think of any offhand.
Men’s lacrosse won the national title in 2019 as well.
Edit: And depending how far we wanna take this, Ryan Zimmerman and Sean Doolittle won the World Series in 2019.
