I thoroughly enjoyed watching us play defense tonight. I thought the offense was fine in the 1st half besides Reece. Not trying to blame one person, but we probably would’ve been up 20+ at half if he had played well offensively, like hitting a couple open shots and not turning it over. Also not concerned at all about his offense in the slightest. I think we could win both games next weeks without IMac but I’d rather not find out
Probably already talked about in the thread, but just so disappointed in Minor. I really pictured him as a high motor guy. With all the motivation in the world to prove himself, he plays like a low energy guy, like he’s just as soon not be out there. (pouting?) Hard to understand.
Ah gotcha. Yea Bond’s jumper is close to automatic. I am actually surprised when it doesn’t go in.
There was a lot to like in this game. Obviously, the defense. Wish we had more size inside, but I think this is the most athletic team that Tony has had, and the pressure we can put on the perimeter and on the passing lanes is insane.
Other, less obvious things I liked: Dante hitting a couple of sweet-looking threes, Groves getting physical inside, Dunn knocking down free throws, Bond proving his shooting last game was no fluke.
I do wonder where he is mentally. To go from all conference and DPOY to riding the bench must be tough. You can see it in his body language but he might just be that way already (subdued)
Hope he has some big moments for us but I’ve just accepted that he’s this years Papi who will only play situationally
Does not seem bought in at all. Definitely not serviceable.
Not sure I buy he’s not bought in. Seems just sort of unsure of himself and uncomfortable.
Maybe we just missed on our eval and he isn’t adjusting well to the pack line.
Just feels unfair to immediately be like “he’s not trying and doesn’t care” lol.
RD doesnt get the best dunk ever in JPJ without Dantes D by the way
I guess I’m watching a different game. When I watched Minor, I saw a guy diving on the floor for loose balls and banging for position under the boards. He has his limitations, obviously, but I didn’t sense a lack of effort.
I guess I am looking for some emotion in his face … positive or negative intensity. Just don’t see it at all.
Just a gamble bringing in D1 players from low tier conferences. Minor and Rhode are different results of the gamble right now. Rhode is serviceable, and will probably be a good pickup for us. Minor just looks over his head. Maybe he will get more comfortable.
I imagine Minor is frustrated by his performance and is in a self-induced negative feedback loop. Been there, done that.
Same. I just saw a guy that didn’t know when and where to set a pick or fight for a post up. He’s just thinking too much you can see it
It may never click but he didn’t seem to be Lacking effort
Be curious to hear what @HoozGotNext thinks of Minor. Do we think it’s a missed eval, Buchanan and groves jusy being better fits for what we want to do, none or all of the above?
Ah yes the biweekly Jordan Minor thread. I’m more disappointed in Tristan How tbh. Poor showing.
Close
I think talking about Jordan Minor is fair. This was our last tune up game he was pretty meh in his minutes. Some energy. Some getting blocked at the rim vs inferior talent compared to the competition we will need him against. Will be interesting to see if Tony saw enough to factor him into the Wisconsin game
Rhode is going to be a tremendous player for us. Just hasn’t happened quite yet.
I thought he looked decent and energetic the last 5 minutes of the game. I wouldn’t mind if he got more extended minutes in the 1st half of the three easy games left before ACC play
