Just realized HGN posted an article with more quotes. I thought the only thing we were discussing is the quote someone posted above, which Iāve now learned is just a snippet.
The comments about Ronchize being a continuation of TB made no sense in that context. And then I just thought Haney made up that Sodie line haha. Anyway, Iām caught up. Carry on
Mine was from Jeff Whites article, I think

The Ronald should have these guys running suicides until they Puke 𤮠out all their memories of coach bennett. Kids these days are so soft.
Picturing Dick Bennett in defensive stance in front of a peach basket.
If the word āspaceā replaces ācontinuousā as an emphasis in our offensive philosophy, we may just have a coach!
FWIW, some pack line history from Luke Winn, back in the day.
I found this part utterly charming and so Bennett-ian.
The most difficult part about doing a Pack-Line D story is that the Bennetts pressure you not to do a Pack-Line D story. They just donāt believe itās a worthy topic. āThe Pack Line isnāt revolutionary,ā Tony says. āItās a basic containment man-to-man, built on simple rules that my dad put together. I wouldnāt want to waste your time.ā
From Dick, more of the same: āWeāre very respectful of the work thatās gone into developing defense,ā he says, āand the last thing that I want is to be thought of as an inventor of a defense thatās been played in many variations.ā He adds that he didnāt even coin the term pack lineāthat came from a marketing guy who talked Bennett into making a DVD on the new system.
That section kinda gets into what Iāve always thought was TBās special sauce: extracting maximum commitment to the less sexy end of the floor from a bunch of 18-22 yos. The defense is simple to understand on paper, any observer could get down most of its rules with a little study. But pairing that with sustained effort and attention to detail for 40 mins/game night after night takes a talented teacher and motivator.
Man you ball
Funny these Legends got it from the real Legend Don Meyer from David Lipscomb
