The Elliott Era begins

Can you imagine Urban in the Saban reform school?

The amount of ego and smugness’ in that coaching room, I think the entire universe will be swallowed into Tuscaloosa in a vortex.

So what’s the timeline look like to hire a coaching staff? Should the names trickle out slowly or come out once the whole staff is filled?

Those I’ve spoke with around NFL circles don’t believe Brennan should come out. They view UVA’s offense as gimmicky, and with a number of strong playmakers. But do not view Brennan ready for the NFL. I would be surprised if his evaluation would suggest anything different.

Both Tonys have their five pillars. Love it.

That assessment makes sense and puts BA in a difficult position because his future numbers will always be compared to last seasons and even if the offense wa gimmicky (it was) a regression in numbers will not look good for him.

Crystal balls coming in this morning predicting Oluwatimi to Michigan. On twitter some folks are saying he is announcing today. Anyway, would obviously be a big loss.

Depends what you mean by numbers. His counting stats (yards, touchdowns, completions) declining won’t hurt his draft stock if he keeps his efficiency up.

I never thought he’d come back after I heard about his visit to Michigan. I mean, would you if you were him?

Already has his degree, or should be in track to get it, would go to a power running offense so he can show a different skillset, play for a hot OC who has been mentioned for HC jobs this year, play for a national power who could win a championship next year, improve his draft profile with a more prominent program, double his social and professional network for future benefit and UMich isn’t a slouch academic school either. Oh, and he can get more NIL money there than here.

Or come back to Virginia to a new coaching staff, new offense, and probably lots of new teammates. Probably will win a number of games, but not exactly a championship contender.

Oh yeah, I’d go too. Have said exactly what you just said, haha. Just a bummer. But he’s been here four years, just like a standard student, and I can only wish him the best. Part of me does hope he got his UVA degree, but even if he didn’t, a Michigan degree is fantastic too.

Serious question, can you transfer from Virginia a few credits short of a degree, finish those credits at another school and then get a Virginia degree? Would other schools let you do that?

Is it functionally any different from getting transfer credits earned at another school prior to transferring to Virginia?

Back in law school, a number of my classmates did their 3rd years at other school under a visiting scholars program. They still got a degree from my school though, not the one they were visiting. Is there an undergrad equivalent?

I was wondering the same thing. I honestly don’t know, but certainly hope somebody in his situation would be able to graduate somewhere if he was really close. I guess he could always finish later like some basketball dudes do, but if you’re in school for five years, would certainly hope you’d be able to finish it.

After signing day Dabo says he ‘hates the transfer portal’. He says that there is a lot of ‘tampering’ taking place with these kids. Says it’s rampant.

Open cheating season every year might drive some coaches with integrity out of the game. Makes me wonder about Bronco.

Yes, you can still get a UVa degree. Just as you stated, the Michigan credits should transfer to fulfill his requirement of 120 credit hours for graduation in the College. Individual UVa departments have to approve the transfer of courses in their discipline, but that shouldn’t be a problem given Michigan’s academic stature.

The only possible issue is if the student still has specific courses in his major to be completed. It can sometimes be difficult to find the an equivalent course at another institution. But in general I wouldn’t expect it to be a problem.

Thats interesting. My guess is the guy has his UVa degree. Whats better than adding a Michigan post grad to that. Good for these kids and interesting info from you
