Did he ever try? Like, with offers of lots of money? Tony, great as he was, didnāt like the new reality and now heās gone.
We arenāt that far apart. The disconnect is more just why couldnāt we get Donovan dent, again as a hypothetical? What does uva lack that other teams have that is simply impossible to overcome with a āstrong ass offer.ā The weather and the girls are not that bad. Okā¦academics or credits/admissionsā¦fine we move on, that hypothetical guy is not in our addressable market. There have to be guys in our addressable market we should go hard after and at a minimum make other teams match an extremely attractive financial offer. Oh, we arenāt in a position to compete for championships? Fine letās give up.
Iām not even advocating the dudes all have to be superstars. I just donāt see how letting financial resources go unutilized makes any sense at all. Every effort should be made to put them to work or we are not even competing anymore.

They were top portal guys. Thatās another thing thoughā¦people forget there really arenāt that many high major bonafide oh we know for certain this guy will great players who transfer. Itās all hindsight.

Love chance but think a veteran lead guard is still a huge need. A 1-year guy. Mallory still plays a lot either way but youāre easing him in a little

Depends on how competitive the plan is to be next year. If weāre optimizing for year two and beyond might want Chance to take his lumps early.

Feel like if we push hard for IMac to return, we owe it to him to get an experienced PG in the portal. Love the idea of having Chance, but not sure this would be the year to play through 1st year mistakes.
If IMac ends up leaving, different landscape.

I absolutely understand what you are saying and I hope the one thing that will change is that we will now at least have a chance with some of the higher end portlers and recruits is that our play style will change. Letās not forget no matter how much we love Bennett his play styles did not exactly attract high level free agents.

We have 8 million and a want to be ātop 10ā (whatever that means"). And any healthy roster has 3-4 pgs.
If Chance beats out the guards we add, for sure. But We should definitely do everything we can to add AT LEAST one good guard
