šŸ”„ The @HooandTrue General Portal 2025 Thread

This is going to be a very interesting portal cycle with Odom having some uncertainty around who is coming from VCU and staying from UVa as he determines his portal needs and makes offers. I have to imagine that outside of a couple players there wont be much time to commit if you are on his former or current rosters.

It would be dumb…and it’s not like Baby Pitino didn’t extract plenty of value personally for taking the chance on him at NM.

Dent should absolutely go chase his somewhere.

Honestly UNC and Louisville are both building from scratch close to as much as we are. Can’t hurt with iMac.

Louisville has proof of concept at least, but I’m not sure what about UNC’s basketball situation is markedly better than ours at the moment.

Exactly what I’m thinking. A lot of portal dust needs to settle before it’ll be at all clear which school presents the best opportunity for him.

Donovan Freeman back to Syracuse.

700 kids in the portal but the ones i want suddenly care about Loyalty and commitment. Makes me sick… hope you stay at UVA though mckneely

Louisville will bring back a decent chunk of its front court (as of today, obviously pending any surprise transfer departures):

  • SF J’Vonne Hadley (Grad) - 12.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 38% 3P%
  • F Khani Rooths (So) - 3.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg
  • PF Kasean Pryor (Grad) - 12.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg before shoulder surgery ended his season
  • F/C James Scott (Jr) - 7.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg
  • C Sananda Fru (Fr) - #25 2025 recruit at 247
  • C Aly Khalifa (Grad) - 5.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg at BYU in '23-24

At guard they add:

  • PG Mikel Brown Jr. (Fr) - Top 10 2025 recruit
  • CG Kobe Rogers (Grad) - 9.7 ppg, 2.2 apg, 45% 3P% at CoC in 2023-24
  • CG Koren Johnson (Grad) - 11.1 ppg, 2.7 apg, 37% 3P% at Washington in 2023-24

So really iMac would be walking into a pretty ready made roster, maybe just needing another guy at the 3-spot, some young depth, and then backfilling any of the above guys who either choose to leave or don’t come back cleanly from injuries/surgeries (Rogers, Johnson, Hadley, and Khalifa).

Koren Johnson is in the portal, FWIW.

Thanks for clarifying. Updated.

Realize my post is a bit of a debbie downer one, yeah they lose a lot of key pieces but they’ve got at least a few 2025-26 key guys already identified, probably moreso than UNC in terms of being able to show iMac how he’d fit into the roster.

On a separate note, I see a lot of these announcements except it’s like ā€œhad this one game where he scored 10 in 10 minutesā€

Imagine taine’s NIL stock chart after the Iowa game

Taine should absolutely announce that he is entering the TP joke show

Can someone find out if players pay NCAA a fee to Portal? Imma guess they charge something

Isaac Mckneely only $600k based on play? Too bad actual demand, not performance determine value

That guy did a really good job with that, developing some kinda formula. I don’t know of any others out there?

Not saying it’s accurate. He’s got mid major guys getting $600K. And I think he’s overdone the big man bonus, Blake is near the top of the list. But I’d say for most high major recruits, it’s in the ballpark.

Noticed Cofies agency is called PNW Sports Group. Based in the… Pacific Northwest.

Pretty sure Jacob Cofie’s handler is straight up Jamal Crawford

It’s funny. I’ve been playing around with making my own model. But my earlier iterations put IMac at $420k and Rohde $200k. So yeah, need to go back to the lab :joy:
