I was pretty excited during portal season last year when we were looking at adding Saunders, Power, Warley. Then Cofie coming in (I never put much stock in rumors that sharma would surprise us) The idea that Bliss, Gertrude, ARob could all emerge as significant contributors. And Rohde and Buchanan with another year under their belt. And of course iMac being the star.
I wonder if he is allowed to attend team meetings, in person or zoom. If he can’t officially practice, can he at least start getting inside information about team strategy and things like that? Him not being on grounds is going to obviously delay the team coming together. I’m curious how that works and what the rules are
But none of our portal guys were these mod major all stars that other schools were dropping a bag for. And warley was a bad add in real time (who we didn’t even get to see play). I was definitely excited but also thought 5th year Reece was the missing piece (and last years team with a legit pg was probably an ncaa tournament team)
I thought TJ Power with opportunity could be our next Sam hauser
He (and Mamadi) also had some great sideline dances his redshirt year but I guess they are tainted, looking back at it, because he was on sideline dance PED’s.
That is great to hear. He was such a fan favorite. Even with not a lot of court time bet he would have made a bit of $ in college in the current environment. Glad those guys are still tight knit.
The problem there is that at least half the transfers were underclassman without much playing experience. They were top 50-100 type recruits still very early in their college career and had never really contributed a whole lot.
There’s a reason TB was touting it as a 2 year plan. For last year to have played out the way Hoo optimists would like, they needed Warley to stick around, Power to be the real deal, and Blake needed to be further along than where he was in his development.
I’m excited to see what this year’s team looks like. This really is one year pick-up basketball. The on court product sometimes doesn’t match what you think you have on paper. Based on the amount of $$$ spent, anything less than a Top 3 finish in the ACC and Sweet 16 would be a huge disappointment. But it doesn’t always work that way. Just ask K-State.
